1 Corinthians 11
1Imitatorsμιμηταίof meμουbeγίνεσθε,asκαθὼςI also [am]κἀγὼof ChristΧριστοῦ.
2I commendἘπαινῶnowδὲyouὑμᾶςthatὅτιin all thingsπάνταmeμουyou have rememberedμέμνησθεandκαὶasκαθὼςI deliveredπαρέδωκαto youὑμῖνtheτὰςteachingsπαραδόσειςyou are keepingκατέχετε.
3I wantθέλωhoweverδὲyouὑμᾶςto knowεἰδέναιthatὅτιof everyπαντὸςmanἀνδρὸςtheἡheadκεφαλὴὁChristΧριστόςisἐστιν,[the] headκεφαλὴnowδὲof [the] woman [is]γυναικὸςtheὁmanἀνήρ,[the] headκεφαλὴnowδὲτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦὁGodθεός.
4Everyπᾶςmanἀνὴρprayingπροσευχόμενοςorἢprophesyingπροφητεύων[anything] onκατὰ[his] headκεφαλῆςhavingἔχωνdishonorsκαταισχύνειtheτὴνheadκεφαλὴνof himαὐτοῦ·
5Everyπᾶσαnowδὲwomanγυνὴprayingπροσευχομένηorἢprophesyingπροφητεύουσαuncoveredἀκατακαλύπτῳwith theτῇheadκεφαλῇdishonorsκαταισχύνειtheτὴνheadκεφαλὴνof herαὐτῆς,oneἓνforγάρit isἐστινandκαὶtheτὸsameαὐτὸτῇwith having been shavenἐξυρημένῃ.
6Ifεἰforγὰρnotοὐcovers her headκατακαλύπτεταιa womanγυνή,alsoκαὶlet her be shornκειράσθω·If [it is]εἰnowδὲdisgracefulαἰσχρὸνto a womanγυναικὶτὸto be shornκείρασθαιorἢto be shavenξυρᾶσθαι,let her cover her headκατακαλυπτέσθω.
7A manἀνὴρtrulyμὲνforγὰρnotοὐκoughtὀφείλειto coverκατακαλύπτεσθαιtheτὴνheadκεφαλήν,imageεἰκὼνandκαὶgloryδόξαof Godθεοῦbeingὑπάρχων·theἡwomanγυνὴhoweverδὲ[the] gloryδόξαof manἀνδρόςisἐστιν.
8Notοὐforγάρisἐστινmanἀνὴρofἐκwomanγυναικός,butἀλλὰwomanγυνὴofἐξmanἀνδρός·
9Trulyκαὶforγὰρnotοὐκwas createdἐκτίσθηmanἀνὴρon account ofδιὰtheτὴνwomanγυναῖκα,butἀλλὰwomanγυνὴon account ofδιὰtheτὸνmanἄνδρα.
10Because ofδιὰthisτοῦτοoughtὀφείλειtheἡwomanγυνὴauthorityἐξουσίανto haveἔχεινonἐπὶtheτῆςheadκεφαλῆςon account ofδιὰtheτοὺςangelsἀγγέλους.
11Howeverπλὴνneither [is]οὔτεwomanγυνὴseparate fromχωρὶςmanἀνδρὸςnorοὔτεmanἀνὴρseparate fromχωρὶςwomanγυναικὸςinἐν[the] Lordκυρίῳ·
12Just asὥσπερforγὰρtheἡwomanγυνὴofἐκtheτοῦman [is]ἀνδρός,soοὕτωςalsoκαὶtheὁmanἀνὴρbyδιὰtheτῆςwoman [is]γυναικός·theτὰhoweverδὲall thingsπάνταofἐκτοῦGodθεοῦ.
13Inἐνyouὑμῖνyourselvesαὐτοῖςjudgeκρίνατε·Becomingπρέπονis itἐστὶνfor a womanγυναῖκαrevealedἀκατακάλυπτοντῷto Godθεῷto prayπροσεύχεσθαι;
14Not evenοὐδὲἡnatureφύσιςitselfαὐτὴdoes teachδιδάσκειyouὑμᾶςthatὅτιa manἀνὴρindeedμὲνifἐὰνhe has long hairκομᾷ,a dishonorἀτιμίαto himαὐτῷit isἐστιν,
15a womanγυνὴhoweverδὲifἐὰνshe has long hairκομᾷ,gloryδόξαto herαὐτῇit isἐστιν;Forὅτιtheἡlong hairκόμηinsteadἀντὶof a coveringπεριβολαίουis givenδέδοται.
16Ifεἰnowδέanyoneτιςis inclinedδοκεῖcontentiousφιλόνεικοςto beεἶναι,weἡμεῖςsuchτοιαύτηνcustomσυνήθειανno [other]οὐκhaveἔχομεν,norοὐδὲtheαἱchurchesἐκκλησίαιτοῦof Godθεοῦ.
17In thisΤοῦτοnowδὲinstructingπαραγγέλλωνnotοὐκI do praiseἐπαινῶbecauseὅτιnotοὐκforεἰςtheτὸbetterκρεῖσσονbutἀλλὰforεἰςtheτὸworseἧσσονyou come togetherσυνέρχεσθε.
18Firstπρῶτονindeedμὲνforγὰρcoming togetherσυνερχομένωνyouὑμῶνinἐνan assemblyἐκκλησίᾳI hearἀκούωdivisionsσχίσματαamongἐνyouὑμῖνthere to beὑπάρχειν,andκαὶin partμέροςitτιI believeπιστεύω.
19It behoovesδεῖforγὰρalsoκαὶfactionsαἱρέσειςamongἐνyouὑμῖνthere to beεἶναι,so thatἵναalsoκαὶtheοἱapprovedδόκιμοιevidentφανεροὶshould becomeγένωνταιamongἐνyouὑμῖν.
20Comingσυνερχομένωνthereforeοὖνof youὑμῶνtogetherἐπὶin oneτὸplaceαὐτὸnotοὐκit isἔστιν[the] Lord’sκυριακὸνsupperδεῖπνονto eatφαγεῖν,
21Oneἕκαστοςforγὰρtheτὸownἴδιονsupperδεῖπνονtakes firstπρολαμβάνειinἐντῷeatingφαγεῖν,andκαὶthis [one]ὃςindeedμὲνis hungryπεινᾷ,that [one]ὃςhoweverδὲis drunkenμεθύει.
22Noμὴindeedγὰρhousesοἰκίαςnotοὐκhave youἔχετεinεἰςwhichτὸto eatἐσθίεινandκαὶto drinkπίνειν;Orἢtheτῆςchurchἐκκλησίαςτοῦof Godθεοῦdo you despiseκαταφρονεῖτε,andκαὶput to shameκαταισχύνετεthoseτοὺςnothingμὴhavingἔχοντας;Whatτίshall I sayεἴπωto youὑμῖν;Shall I praiseἐπαινέσωyouὑμᾶς;inἐνthisτούτῳNotοὐκI praise [you]ἐπαινῶ.
23IἘγὼforγὰρreceivedπαρέλαβονfromἀπὸtheτοῦLordκυρίου,that whichὃalsoκαὶI deliveredπαρέδωκαto youὑμῖν,thatὅτιtheὁLordκύριοςJesusἸησοῦςinἐνtheτῇnightνυκτὶin whichᾗHe was betrayedπαρεδίδετοtookἔλαβενbreadἄρτον
24andκαὶhaving given thanksεὐχαριστήσαςHe broke [it]ἔκλασενandκαὶsaidεἶπεν·ThisΤοῦτόof Meμούisἐστινtheτὸbodyσῶμαwhich [is]τὸforὑπὲρyouὑμῶν·thisτοῦτοdoποιεῖτεinεἰςτὴνof Meἐμὴνremembranceἀνάμνησιν.
25Likewiseὡσαύτωςalsoκαὶtheτὸcupποτήριονafterμετὰτὸhaving suppedδειπνῆσαι,sayingλέγων·ThisΤοῦτοτὸcupποτήριονtheἡnewκαινὴcovenantδιαθήκηisἐστὶνinἐντῷMyἐμῷbloodαἵματι·thisτοῦτοdoποιεῖτε,as often asὁσάκιςifἐὰνyou might drink [it]πίνητε,inεἰςτὴνof Meἐμὴνremembranceἀνάμνησιν.
26As often asὁσάκιςforγὰρifἐὰνyou may eatἐσθίητεtheτὸνbreadἄρτονthisτοῦτονandκαὶtheτὸcupποτήριονmay drinkπίνητε,theτὸνdeathθάνατονof theτοῦLordκυρίουyou proclaimκαταγγέλλετε,untilἄχριthatοὗHe should comeἔλθῃ.
27ThereforeὭστεwhoeverὃςἂνshould eatἐσθίῃtheτὸνbreadἄρτονorἢshould drinkπίνῃtheτὸcupποτήριονof theτοῦLordκυρίουunworthilyἀναξίως,guiltyἔνοχοςwill beἔσταιof theτοῦbodyσώματοςandκαὶof theτοῦbloodαἵματοςof theτοῦLordκυρίου.
28Let examineδοκιμαζέτωhoweverδὲa manἄνθρωποςhimselfἑαυτόν,andκαὶin this mannerοὕτωςofἐκtheτοῦbreadἄρτουlet him eatἐσθιέτωandκαὶofἐκtheτοῦcupποτηρίουlet him drinkπινέτω·
29The [one]ὁforγὰρeatingἐσθίωνandκαὶdrinkingπίνωνjudgmentκρίμαon himselfἑαυτῷeatsἐσθίειandκαὶdrinksπίνειnotμὴdiscerningδιακρίνωνtheτὸbodyσῶμα.
30Because ofδιὰthisτοῦτοamongἐνyouὑμῖνmanyπολλοὶ[are] weakἀσθενεῖςandκαὶsickἄρρωστοιandκαὶare fallen asleepκοιμῶνταιmanyἱκανοί.
31Ifεἰforδὲourselvesἑαυτοὺςwe were judgingδιεκρίνομεν,notοὐκἂνwe would come under judgmentἐκρινόμεθα·
32Being judgedκρινόμενοιhoweverδὲbyὑπὸLordκυρίουwe are disciplinedπαιδευόμεθα,so thatἵναnotμὴwithσὺνtheτῷworldκόσμῳwe should be condemnedκατακριθῶμεν.
33So thenὭστε,brothersἀδελφοίof meμου,coming togetherσυνερχόμενοιin orderεἰςτὸto eatφαγεῖνone anotherἀλλήλουςwait forἐκδέχεσθε.
34Ifεἴanyoneτιςis hungryπεινᾷ,atἐνhomeοἴκῳlet him eatἐσθιέτω,so thatἵναnotμὴforεἰςjudgmentκρίμαyou might come togetherσυνέρχησθε.ΤὰAndδὲthe other thingsλοιπὰas soon asὡςἂνI might comeἔλθωI will set in orderδιατάξομαι.
