Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 October 2026

GreekByVerse is a website that teaches you to read the Greek New Testament. These Terms of Service (“Terms” or “Terms of Service”), together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you ("You" or the "User") and GreekByVerse (“we”, “us”, or “our”). If you do not agree with or cannot comply with this Agreement, then you may not use the Service.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms form a binding agreement when you create an account or sign in. The sign-in page states that, by signing in, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.

If you continue to use the signed-in course after we post a revised version of these Terms, you accept that revised version.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least eighteen years of age. GreekByVerse is not directed to children. We do not knowingly open or keep an account for anyone under eighteen. If we learn that an account belongs to a child, we will close it and delete the learning record associated with it.

Each account is for one person. You sign in with an emailed code or link, or with Google.

You must use an email address that you control, because the sign-in code and link are sent to that address. You are responsible for access to that email and for all activity under your account. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture, which Supabase stores with the sign-in record.

Your account holds the lessons you have finished, the record of which words are due for review, the answers you choose, the results of any placement, the number of days you have practiced, and a display name. If you sign in with Google, we copy the name Google shares into that field when the account is created. If you sign in with email, the field starts empty. You can change the name on the Profile page. The account does not hold a statement of religious belief. Payment methods and billing details for a subscription are held by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record — not in your GreekByVerse account.

You may close your account at any time from the Profile page by typing the word “delete”. Closing the account removes your sign-in and that learning record. Settings that remain only in your browser — your choice of appearance, whether listening exercises and unread-verse markers are on, which verses you have already opened, and whether the verse list shows only passages you have unlocked — are not removed when we delete the account. The Privacy Policy explains how to clear them.

We may refuse a new account, or close an existing account, if these Terms are broken.

3. Fees, Subscriptions, and Refunds

The Greek New Testament reader on GreekByVerse is free. You do not need an account or a subscription to use it.

The learning path — lessons, reviews, guided reading, and related progress tools — is a paid subscription (“Learning Path”). There is one paid tier with all access. Prices are shown on the public pricing page before you subscribe:

  • Monthly plan: USD $15 per month.
  • Yearly plan: USD $150 per year.

Both plans include a seven-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts to a paid plan and renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) until you cancel. By starting a trial or paid subscription, you authorize Paddle.com to charge the payment method you provide for the renewal amount then in force.

You may cancel at any time through Paddle’s customer portal (linked from your Profile once checkout is enabled) or by contacting Paddle buyer support. After you cancel, you keep Learning Path access until the end of the current paid period (or until the end of the trial if you cancel during the trial). Cancellation stops the next renewal; it is not by itself a request for a refund of the current period.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Card and other payment details are collected and stored by Paddle, not by GreekByVerse.

Refund Policy

If you change your mind about a paid Learning Path subscription, you may request a refund from Paddle:

  • Monthly plan: within 14 days of the charge.
  • Yearly plan: within 30 days of the charge.

Request a refund through paddle.net or by contacting Paddle buyer support. You may also email us at support@greekbyverse.com, and we will help point you to Paddle. Statutory consumer rights in your country of residence are not limited by this policy.

4. Acceptable Use

We grant you a personal right to study with GreekByVerse. You agree that you will not:

  • allow another person to study through your account, or present the account as a seat for a class, a church, or a school;
  • copy the order of the lessons, the exercises, or the prepared sound in bulk, or republish them as another course;
  • attempt to view or alter another learner’s progress (the course has no shared profile and no public profile);
  • interfere with the site, attempt to enter it without an account, or strain it so that others cannot study;
  • use the course to claim that GreekByVerse, a Bible society, or a church has certified your ability to read.

There is no place in the course to post writing, comments, or recordings. The only responses you submit are choices within a lesson.

5. Intellectual Property

We own the name GreekByVerse, the arrangement of the lessons, and the design of the exercises. You receive a personal permission to use them for your own study while your account remains open. That permission cannot be transferred, and it ends when the account is closed.

The Greek wording in the lessons is the Society of Biblical Literature Greek New Testament, as presented in the Morphological Greek New Testament, which is made available under a Creative Commons Attribution license. We do not claim ownership of the biblical text. The public site credits those sources.

The short English sense shown for a single word is from the Dodson lexicon, which is in the public domain. The English line shown with a verse is the Berean Literal Bible. A tap on a Greek word can show an interlinear hint from Macula Greek. Titles of reading units use Berean Standard Bible section headings. The Berean texts and the Macula hints remain the property of their publishers. Your permission is to read them inside the course. It is not a right to copy the body of lessons, or the sound, into another product.

Sound in a lesson is speech we prepared in advance from the course Greek, read in modern Greek. It is not a recording of your voice. You may play it within a lesson. You may not collect it or offer it elsewhere.

If you send us a suggestion, we may use that suggestion without payment and without an obligation to credit you.

6. Third-Party Services

Parts of the course are provided with the help of other companies:

  • Supabase keeps your account and your learning record.
  • Resend sends the sign-in code and link to your email address.
  • Google can be used to sign in. Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture, which Supabase stores with the sign-in record. If you sign in with Google, we copy that name onto your profile when the account is created.
  • Vercel serves the website.
  • Cloudflare stores the sound files. Your browser requests a file when a lesson plays sound. Cloudflare Turnstile checks email sign-in.
  • Microsoft’s speech service was used by us, in advance, to prepare that sound. Your account and your answers are not sent to that service when you study.
  • Paddle.com is our online reseller and Merchant of Record for Learning Path subscriptions. It processes payments, issues receipts, handles tax where required, and manages refunds and related buyer support. See section 3.

Each of those companies applies its own terms to its own systems. An interruption that is solely theirs may interrupt a lesson or a checkout.

We do not use an advertising network.

7. Links to Other Websites or Services

Our Service may contain links to third party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by GreekByVerse. They are not part of GreekByVerse, and we do not operate them.

The lessons do not send you to another website. If you follow a link, you leave this course. Your browser then deals with that site directly. We do not send your account or your learning record with the link.

That site’s own terms, and the material published there, are its responsibility. We do not control the site, and we are not responsible for its content, its availability, or any loss that arises from your use of it. A credit link is not an endorsement beyond the attribution of the Greek text, and it is not a promise that the site will remain available.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

GreekByVerse is a study aid for reading the Greek New Testament. It is not a seminary, a translation service, pastoral counsel, or a certificate that you are able to read the New Testament.

The English shown in an exercise is a short study sense or a literal line. It is not a finished translation. The course does not teach grammar as a separate subject.

Where sound is offered, it is a modern Greek reading of the written words. It is not a claim about how the New Testament was spoken in the first century. Where we have not prepared sound, the exercise is presented in writing.

The figures shown in the course — the portion of the New Testament covered by the lessons you have completed, the words you have met, the verses you have unlocked, and the days you have practiced — record your activity in the course. They are not a credential.

We may correct, reorder, or withdraw lessons, and the site may be unavailable from time to time. We do not warrant that a particular verse will remain in a particular lesson, or that access will be uninterrupted.

We take reasonable care of your account. No method of sending or storing information over the internet is perfectly secure, and we do not warrant that it is.

The course is provided as it stands and as it is available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss arising from reliance on a study sense in teaching, preaching, or publication, or for time spent in study. Our total liability for a direct claim relating to the course is limited to the fees you paid for the Learning Path subscription in the twelve months before the claim (or zero if you used only the free reader).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, or any other liability that the law of your country of residence does not allow a contract to exclude or limit. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory rights of that country.

9. Indemnification

If a third party brings a claim against us because you broke these Terms, misused your account, or republished the lessons, the English study text, or the sound beyond the permission in section 5, you will indemnify us against the loss that claim causes, including reasonable legal expenses. This promise does not require you to indemnify us for our own fault. Where the law of your country of residence restricts a promise of this kind, this section applies only to the extent that law allows.

10. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The courts in Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction over a dispute arising from these Terms or from the course.

11. Termination

You may stop using GreekByVerse at any time by closing your account on the Profile page, as section 2 describes.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks section 4. We may also discontinue the course.

After the account is closed, the learning record is removed as the Privacy Policy describes. A backup copy may remain with our provider until that provider’s backup period ends. We do not use that copy in the course.

Sections 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10, and any obligation that has already arisen, continue after the account ends.

12. Changes to Terms

We will post any revised Terms on this page and change the date at the top. If a change would introduce a charge, or would narrow your permission to study, we will also bring that change to your attention in the course or by email before it applies. If you continue to use your account after the posted date, the revised Terms apply. If you do not agree to them, close your account.

13. Contact Us
