1 John 2
1Little childrenΤεκνίαof meμου,these thingsταῦταI am writingγράφωto youὑμῖνso thatἵναnotμὴyou might sinἁμάρτητε.Andκαὶifἐάνanyoneτιςshould sinἁμάρτῃ,an advocateπαράκλητονwe haveἔχομενwithπρὸςtheτὸνFatherπατέραJesusἸησοῦνChristΧριστὸν[the] Righteous [One]δίκαιον,
2AndκαὶHeαὐτὸς[the] propitiationἱλασμόςisἐστινforπερὶtheτῶνsinsἁμαρτιῶνof usἡμῶν,notοὐforπερὶtheτῶνof oursἡμετέρωνandδὲonlyμόνονbutἀλλὰalsoκαὶforπερὶallὅλουtheτοῦworldκόσμου.
3AndΚαὶbyἐνthisτούτῳwe knowγινώσκομενthatὅτιwe have come to knowἐγνώκαμενHimαὐτόν,ifἐὰνtheτὰςcommandmentsἐντολὰςof Himαὐτοῦwe should keepτηρῶμεν.
4The [one]ὁsayingλέγωνὅτιI have knownἜγνωκαHimαὐτὸνandκαὶtheτὰςcommandmentsἐντολὰςof Himαὐτοῦnotμὴkeepingτηρῶνa liarψεύστηςhe isἐστίν,andκαὶinἐνhimτούτῳtheἡtruthἀλήθειαnotοὐκisἔστιν·
5Whoeverὃςhoweverδ’ἂνmay keepτηρῇHisαὐτοῦτὸνwordλόγον,trulyἀληθῶςinἐνhimτούτῳtheἡloveἀγάπητοῦof Godθεοῦhas been perfectedτετελείωται.Byἐνthisτούτῳwe knowγινώσκομενthatὅτιinἐνHimαὐτῷwe areἐσμεν·
6The [one]ὁclaimingλέγωνinἐνHimαὐτῷto abideμένεινoughtὀφείλειjust asκαθὼςthatἐκεῖνοςwalkπεριεπάτησενalsoκαὶHeαὐτὸςwalkedπεριπατεῖν.
7BelovedἈγαπητοί,notοὐκa commandmentἐντολὴνnewκαινὴνI am writingγράφωto youὑμῖν,butἀλλ’a commandmentἐντολὴνoldπαλαιὰνwhichἣνyou have hadεἴχετεfromἀπ’[the] beginningἀρχῆς·Theἡcommandmentἐντολὴἡoldπαλαιάisἐστινtheὁwordλόγοςthatὃνyou have heardἠκούσατε.
8Againπάλινa commandmentἐντολὴνnewκαινὴνI am writingγράφωto youὑμῖν,whichὅisἐστινtrueἀληθὲςinἐνHimαὐτῷandκαὶinἐνyouὑμῖν,becauseὅτιtheἡdarknessσκοτίαis passing awayπαράγεταιandκαὶtheτὸlightφῶςτὸtrueἀληθινὸνalreadyἤδηshinesφαίνει.
9The [one]ὁclaimingλέγωνinἐνtheτῷlightφωτὶto beεἶναιandκαὶtheτὸνbrotherἀδελφὸνof himαὐτοῦhatingμισῶνinἐνtheτῇdarknessσκοτίᾳisἐστὶνeven untilἕωςnowἄρτι.
10The [one]ὁlovingἀγαπῶνtheτὸνbrotherἀδελφὸνof himαὐτοῦinἐνtheτῷlightφωτὶabidesμένει,andκαὶcause for stumblingσκάνδαλονinἐνhimαὐτῷnotοὐκthere isἔστιν·
11The [one]ὁhoweverδὲhatingμισῶνtheτὸνbrotherἀδελφὸνof himαὐτοῦinἐνtheτῇdarknessσκοτίᾳisἐστὶνandκαὶinἐνtheτῇdarknessσκοτίᾳwalksπεριπατεῖ,andκαὶnotοὐκdoes he knowοἶδενwhereποῦhe is goingὑπάγει,becauseὅτιtheἡdarknessσκοτίαhas blindedἐτύφλωσενtheτοὺςeyesὀφθαλμοὺςof himαὐτοῦ.
12I am writingΓράφωto youὑμῖν,little childrenτεκνία,becauseὅτιhave been forgivenἀφέωνταιyourὑμῖναἱsinsἁμαρτίαιfor the sake ofδιὰtheτὸnameὄνομαof Himαὐτοῦ·
13I am writingγράφωto youὑμῖν,fathersπατέρες,becauseὅτιyou have knownἐγνώκατεHim who [is]τὸνfromἀπ’[the] beginningἀρχῆς·I am writingγράφωto youὑμῖν,young menνεανίσκοι,becauseὅτιyou have overcomeνενικήκατεtheτὸνevil [one]πονηρόν.
14I have writtenἔγραψαto youὑμῖν,little childrenπαιδία,becauseὅτιyou knowἐγνώκατεtheτὸνFatherπατέρα·I have writtenἔγραψαto youὑμῖν,fathersπατέρες,becauseὅτιyou knowἐγνώκατεHim who [is]τὸνfromἀπ’[the] beginningἀρχῆς·I have writtenἔγραψαto youὑμῖν,young menνεανίσκοι,becauseὅτιstrongἰσχυροίyou areἐστεandκαὶtheὁwordλόγοςτοῦof Godθεοῦinἐνyouὑμῖνabidesμένειandκαὶyou have overcomeνενικήκατεtheτὸνevil [one]πονηρόν.
15NotΜὴloveἀγαπᾶτεtheτὸνworldκόσμονnorμηδὲthe thingsτὰinἐνtheτῷworldκόσμῳ.Ifἐάνanyoneτιςshould loveἀγαπᾷtheτὸνworldκόσμον,notοὐκisἔστινtheἡloveἀγάπηof theτοῦFatherπατρὸςinἐνhimαὐτῷ·
16becauseὅτιallπᾶνthat [is]τὸinἐνtheτῷworldκόσμῳ,theἡdesireἐπιθυμίαof theτῆςfleshσαρκὸςandκαὶtheἡdesireἐπιθυμίαof theτῶνeyesὀφθαλμῶνandκαὶtheἡvauntingἀλαζονείαofτοῦlifeβίου,notοὐκisἔστινfromἐκtheτοῦFatherπατρός,butἀλλὰfromἐκtheτοῦworldκόσμουisἐστίν·
17Andκαὶtheὁworldκόσμοςis passing awayπαράγεταιandκαὶtheἡdesireἐπιθυμίαof itαὐτοῦ,the [one]ὁhoweverδὲdoingποιῶνtheτὸwillθέληματοῦof Godθεοῦabidesμένειtoεἰςtheτὸνageαἰῶνα.
18Little childrenΠαιδία,[the] lastἐσχάτηhourὥραit isἐστίν,andκαὶasκαθὼςyou have heardἠκούσατεthatὅτιantichristἀντίχριστοςis comingἔρχεται,evenκαὶnowνῦνantichristsἀντίχριστοιmanyπολλοὶhave arisenγεγόνασιν·wherebyὅθενwe knowγινώσκομενthatὅτι[the] lastἐσχάτηhourὥραit isἐστίν.
19From amongἐξusἡμῶνthey went outἐξῆλθαν,butἀλλ’notοὐκthey wereἦσανofἐξusἡμῶν·ifεἰforγὰρofἐξusἡμῶνthey had beenἦσαν,they would have remainedμεμενήκεισανἂνwithμεθ’usἡμῶν·Butἀλλ’[it is] so thatἵναit might be made manifestφανερωθῶσινthatὅτιnotοὐκthey areεἰσὶνallπάντεςofἐξusἡμῶν.
20Andκαὶyouὑμεῖς[the] anointingχρῖσμαhaveἔχετεfromἀπὸtheτοῦHoly [One]ἁγίουandκαὶknow youοἴδατεallπάντες·
21NotοὐκI have writtenἔγραψαto youὑμῖνbecauseὅτιnotοὐκyou knowοἴδατεtheτὴνtruthἀλήθειαν,butἀλλ’becauseὅτιyou knowοἴδατεitαὐτήν,andκαὶbecauseὅτιanyπᾶνlieψεῦδοςofἐκtheτῆςtruthἀληθείαςnotοὐκisἔστιν.
22Whoτίςisἐστινtheὁliarψεύστηςifεἰnotμὴthe [one]ὁdenyingἀρνούμενοςthatὅτιJesusἸησοῦςnotοὐκisἔστινtheὁChristχριστός;Thisοὗτόςisἐστινtheὁantichristἀντίχριστος,the [one]ὁdenyingἀρνούμενοςtheτὸνFatherπατέραandκαὶtheτὸνSonυἱόν.
23EveryoneπᾶςὁdenyingἀρνούμενοςtheτὸνSonυἱὸνneitherοὐδὲtheτὸνFatherπατέραhas heἔχει·The [one]ὁconfessingὁμολογῶνtheτὸνSonυἱὸνalsoκαὶtheτὸνFatherπατέραhasἔχει.
24Youὑμεῖςwhatὃyou have heardἠκούσατεfromἀπ’[the] beginningἀρχῆς,inἐνyouὑμῖνlet it abideμενέτω·Ifἐὰνinἐνyouὑμῖνshould abideμείνῃwhatὃfromἀπ’[the] beginningἀρχῆςyou have heardἠκούσατε,alsoκαὶyouὑμεῖςinἐνtheτῷSonυἱῷandκαὶinἐνtheτῷFatherπατρὶwill abideμενεῖτε.
25AndκαὶthisαὕτηisἐστὶνtheἡpromiseἐπαγγελίαthatἣνHeαὐτὸςpromisedἐπηγγείλατοusἡμῖν,τὴνlifeζωὴντὴνeternalαἰώνιον.
26These thingsΤαῦταI have writtenἔγραψαto youὑμῖνconcerningπερὶthoseτῶνleading astrayπλανώντωνyouὑμᾶς.
27Andκαὶyouὑμεῖςtheτὸanointingχρῖσμαthatὃyou receivedἐλάβετεfromἀπ’Himαὐτοῦabidesμένειinἐνyouὑμῖν,andκαὶnotοὐneedχρείανyou haveἔχετεthatἵναanyoneτιςshould teachδιδάσκῃyouὑμᾶς·Butἀλλ’just asὡςtheτὸsameαὐτοῦanointingχρῖσμαteachesδιδάσκειyouὑμᾶςconcerningπερὶall thingsπάντων,andκαὶtrueἀληθέςisἐστινandκαὶnotοὐκisἔστινa lieψεῦδος,andκαὶjust asκαθὼςit has taughtἐδίδαξενyouὑμᾶς,you shall abideμένετεinἐνHimαὐτῷ.
28AndΚαὶnowνῦν,little childrenτεκνία,abideμένετεinἐνHimαὐτῷ,so thatἵναwhenἐὰνHe appearsφανερωθῇwe might haveσχῶμενboldnessπαρρησίανandκαὶnotμὴbe ashamedαἰσχυνθῶμενbeforeἀπ’Himαὐτοῦatἐνtheτῇcomingπαρουσίᾳof Himαὐτοῦ.
29Ifἐὰνyou knowεἰδῆτεthatὅτιrighteousδίκαιόςHe isἐστιν,you knowγινώσκετεthatὅτιeveryoneπᾶςὁpracticingποιῶντὴνrighteousnessδικαιοσύνηνofἐξHimαὐτοῦhas been begottenγεγέννηται.
