1 Peter 4
1ChristΧριστοῦthereforeοὖνhaving sufferedπαθόντοςin [the] fleshσαρκὶalsoκαὶyouὑμεῖςtheτὴνsameαὐτὴνmindἔννοιανarm yourselves withὁπλίσασθε,becauseὅτιthe [one]ὁhaving sufferedπαθὼν[in the] fleshσαρκὶis done withπέπαυταιsinἁμαρτίας,
2so asεἰςτὸno longerμηκέτιto men’sἀνθρώπωνdesiresἐπιθυμίαιςbutἀλλὰto [the] willθελήματιof Godθεοῦtheτὸνremainingἐπίλοιπονinἐν[the] fleshσαρκὶto liveβιῶσαιtimeχρόνον.
3[Is] sufficientἀρκετὸςforγὰρtheὁpastπαρεληλυθὼςtimeχρόνοςtheτὸdesireβούλημαof theτῶνGentilesἐθνῶνto have carried outκατειργάσθαι,having walkedπεπορευμένουςinἐνsensualityἀσελγείαις,lustsἐπιθυμίαις,drunkennessοἰνοφλυγίαις,orgiesκώμοις,carousingπότοις,andκαὶabominableἀθεμίτοιςidolatriesεἰδωλολατρίαις.
4With respect toἐνthisᾧthey think it strangeξενίζονταιnotμὴrunning with [them]συντρεχόντωνof youὑμῶνintoεἰςtheτὴνsameαὐτὴντῆςof debaucheryἀσωτίαςoverflowἀνάχυσιν,speaking evil [of you]βλασφημοῦντες·
5whoοἳwill giveἀποδώσουσινaccountλόγονto Him whoτῷreadyἑτοίμωςisἔχοντιto judgeκρῖναι[the] livingζῶνταςandκαὶ[the] deadνεκρούς·
6Toεἰςthis [end]τοῦτοindeedγὰρevenκαὶto [the] deadνεκροῖςthe gospel was proclaimedεὐηγγελίσθηso thatἵναthey might be judgedκριθῶσιindeedμὲνaccording toκατὰmenἀνθρώπουςin [the] fleshσαρκὶthey might liveζῶσιhoweverδὲaccording toκατὰGodθεὸνin [the] spiritπνεύματι.
7Of allΠάντωνnowδὲtheτὸendτέλοςhas drawn nearἤγγικεν.Be clear mindedσωφρονήσατεthereforeοὖνandκαὶsoberνήψατεfor the purpose ofεἰςprayersπροσευχάς·
8aboveπρὸall thingsπάντωντὴνamongεἰςyourselvesἑαυτοὺςloveἀγάπηνferventἐκτενῆhavingἔχοντες,becauseὅτιloveἀγάπηcovers overκαλύπτειa multitudeπλῆθοςof sinsἁμαρτιῶν·
9hospitableφιλόξενοιtoεἰςone anotherἀλλήλουςwithoutἄνευcomplaintγογγυσμοῦ·
10eachἕκαστοςasκαθὼςhas receivedἔλαβενa giftχάρισμα,toεἰςeach otherἑαυτοὺςthemαὐτὸservingδιακονοῦντεςasὡςgoodκαλοὶstewardsοἰκονόμοιof [the] manifoldποικίληςgraceχάριτοςof Godθεοῦ·
11ifεἴanyoneτιςspeaksλαλεῖ,asὡςoraclesλόγιαof Godθεοῦ·ifεἴanyoneτιςservesδιακονεῖ,asὡςofἐξstrengthἰσχύοςwhichἧςsuppliesχορηγεῖὁGodθεός·so thatἵναinἐνall thingsπᾶσινmay be glorifiedδοξάζηταιὁGodθεὸςthroughδιὰJesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦ,to whomᾧbeἐστινtheἡgloryδόξαandκαὶtheτὸpowerκράτοςtoεἰςtheτοὺςagesαἰῶναςof theτῶνagesαἰώνων·Amenἀμήν.
12BelovedἈγαπητοί,notμὴbe surprised atξενίζεσθεtheτῇamongἐνyouὑμῖνfireπυρώσειforπρὸςa trialπειρασμὸνto youὑμῖνtaking placeγινομένῃas ifὡςa strange thingξένουto youὑμῖνwere happeningσυμβαίνοντος,
13Butἀλλὰasκαθὸyou have sharedκοινωνεῖτεin theτοῖςτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦsufferingsπαθήμασινrejoiceχαίρετε,so thatἵναalsoκαὶinἐνtheτῇrevelationἀποκαλύψειof theτῆςgloryδόξηςof Himαὐτοῦyou may rejoiceχαρῆτεexultingἀγαλλιώμενοι.
14Ifεἰyou are insultedὀνειδίζεσθεinἐν[the] nameὀνόματιof ChristΧριστοῦ,[you are] blessedμακάριοι,becauseὅτιtheτὸτῆςof gloryδόξηςandκαὶτὸτοῦof GodθεοῦSpiritπνεῦμαuponἐφ’youὑμᾶςrestsἀναπαύεται.
15Notμὴforγάρanyτιςof youὑμῶνlet sufferπασχέτωasὡςa murdererφονεὺςorἢa thiefκλέπτηςorἢan evildoerκακοποιὸςorἢasὡςa troublesome meddlerἀλλοτριεπίσκοπος·
16ifεἰhoweverδὲasὡςa ChristianΧριστιανός,notμὴlet him be ashamedαἰσχυνέσθω,let him glorifyδοξαζέτωhoweverδὲτὸνGodθεὸνinἐνtheτῷnameὀνόματιthisτούτῳ.
17For [it is]ὅτιtheὁtime [for]καιρὸςτοῦto have begunἄρξασθαιtheτὸjudgmentκρίμαfromἀπὸtheτοῦhouseοἴκουτοῦof Godθεοῦ·ifεἰnowδὲfirstπρῶτονfromἀφ’usἡμῶν,what [will be]τίtheτὸoutcomeτέλοςof thoseτῶνdisobeyingἀπειθούντωνtheτῷτοῦof Godθεοῦgospelεὐαγγελίῳ;
18AndκαὶIfεἰtheὁrighteous [one]δίκαιοςwith difficultyμόλιςis savedσῴζεται,theὁungodlyἀσεβὴςandκαὶsinnerἁμαρτωλὸςwhereποῦwill appearφανεῖται;
19Thereforeὥστεalsoκαὶthoseοἱsufferingπάσχοντεςaccording toκατὰtheτὸwillθέληματοῦof Godθεοῦto [the] faithfulπιστῷCreatorκτίστῃlet them commitπαρατιθέσθωσανtheτὰςsoulsψυχὰςof themαὐτῶνinἐνwell doingἀγαθοποιΐᾳ.
