1 Thessalonians 1

1PaulΠαῦλοςandκαὶSilvanusΣιλουανὸςandκαὶTimothyΤιμόθεοςTo theτῇchurchἐκκλησίᾳof the ThessaloniansΘεσσαλονικέωνinἐνGodθεῷ[the] Fatherπατρὶandκαὶ[the] LordκυρίῳJesusἸησοῦChristΧριστῷ·Graceχάριςto youὑμῖνandκαὶpeaceεἰρήνη.

2We give thanksΕὐχαριστοῦμενtoτῷGodθεῷalwaysπάντοτεconcerningπερὶallπάντωνof youὑμῶνmentionμνείανmakingποιούμενοιinἐπὶtheτῶνprayersπροσευχῶνof usἡμῶν,unceasinglyἀδιαλείπτως

3rememberingμνημονεύοντεςyourὑμῶντοῦworkἔργουτῆςof faithπίστεωςandκαὶτοῦlaborκόπουτῆςof loveἀγάπηςandκαὶtheτῆςenduranceὑπομονῆςof theτῆςhopeἐλπίδοςof theτοῦLordκυρίουof usἡμῶνJesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦbeforeἔμπροσθενtheτοῦGodθεοῦandκαὶFatherπατρὸςof usἡμῶν,

4knowingεἰδότες,brothersἀδελφοὶbelovedἠγαπημένοιbyὑπὸGodθεοῦ,theτὴνelectionἐκλογὴνof youὑμῶν,

5becauseὅτιtheτὸgospelεὐαγγέλιονof usἡμῶνnotοὐκcameἐγενήθηtoεἰςyouὑμᾶςinἐνwordλόγῳonlyμόνονbutἀλλὰalsoκαὶinἐνpowerδυνάμειandκαὶinἐν[the] SpiritπνεύματιHolyἁγίῳandκαὶfull assuranceπληροφορίᾳmuchπολλῇ,just asκαθὼςyou knowοἴδατεwhatοἷοιwe wereἐγενήθημενamongἐνyouὑμῖνon account ofδι’youὑμᾶς·

6Andκαὶyouὑμεῖςimitatorsμιμηταὶof usἡμῶνbecameἐγενήθητεandκαὶof theτοῦLordκυρίου,having receivedδεξάμενοιtheτὸνwordλόγονinἐνtribulationθλίψειmuchπολλῇwithμετὰ[the] joyχαρᾶςof [the] SpiritπνεύματοςHolyἁγίου,

7so as forὥστεto becameγενέσθαιyouὑμᾶςan exampleτύπονto allπᾶσινtheτοῖςbelieving [ones]πιστεύουσινinἐντῇMacedoniaΜακεδονίᾳandκαὶinἐντῇAchaiaἈχαΐᾳ.

8Fromἀφ’youὑμῶνforγὰρhas sounded forthἐξήχηταιtheὁwordλόγοςof theτοῦLordκυρίουnotοὐonlyμόνονinἐντῇMacedoniaΜακεδονίᾳandκαὶAchaiaἈχαΐᾳ,butἀλλ’inἐνeveryπαντὶplaceτόπῳtheἡfaithπίστιςof youὑμῶνἡtowardπρὸςτὸνGodθεὸνhas gone abroadἐξελήλυθεν,so as forὥστεnoμὴneedχρείανto haveἔχεινusἡμᾶςto sayλαλεῖνanythingτι·

9They themselvesαὐτοὶforγὰρconcerningπερὶusἡμῶνreportἀπαγγέλλουσινwhatὁποίανreceptionεἴσοδονwe hadἔσχομενfromπρὸςyouὑμᾶς,andκαὶhowπῶςyou turnedἐπεστρέψατεtoπρὸςτὸνGodθεὸνfromἀπὸτῶνidolsεἰδώλωνto serveδουλεύειν[the] Godθεῷlivingζῶντιandκαὶtrueἀληθινῷ,

10andκαὶto awaitἀναμένεινtheτὸνSonυἱὸνof Himαὐτοῦfromἐκtheτῶνheavensοὐρανῶν,whomὃνHe raisedἤγειρενout fromἐκtheτῶνdeadνεκρῶν,JesusἸησοῦνthe [one]τὸνdeliveringῥυόμενονusἡμᾶςfromἐκtheτῆςwrathὀργῆςτῆςcomingἐρχομένης.
