1 Timothy 3
1Trustworthy [is]Πιστὸςtheὁsayingλόγος·Ifεἴanyoneτιςoverseershipἐπισκοπῆςaspires toὀρέγεται,of goodκαλοῦa workἔργουhe is desirousἐπιθυμεῖ.
2It behoovesδεῖthereforeοὖνtheτὸνoverseerἐπίσκοπονabove reproachἀνεπίλημπτονto beεἶναι,of oneμιᾶςwifeγυναικὸς[the] husbandἄνδρα,soberνηφάλιον,self-controlledσώφρονα,respectableκόσμιον,hospitableφιλόξενον,able to teachδιδακτικόν,
3notμὴgiven to wineπάροινον,notμὴa strikerπλήκτην,butἀλλὰgentleἐπιεικῆ,peaceableἄμαχον,not loving moneyἀφιλάργυρον,
4theτοῦownἰδίουhouseοἴκουwellκαλῶςmanagingπροϊστάμενον,childrenτέκναhavingἔχονταinἐνsubmissionὑποταγῇwithμετὰallπάσηςdignityσεμνότητος·
5ifεἰbutδέoneτιςtheτοῦownἰδίουhouseholdοἴκουto manageπροστῆναιnotοὐκknowsοἶδεν,howπῶς[the] churchἐκκλησίαςof Godθεοῦ[how] will he care forἐπιμελήσεται;
6notμὴa noviceνεόφυτον,thatἵναnotμὴhaving been puffed upτυφωθεὶςintoεἰς[the] judgmentκρίμαhe might fallἐμπέσῃof theτοῦdevilδιαβόλου.
7It behooves [him]δεῖnowδὲalsoκαὶa testimonyμαρτυρίανgoodκαλὴνto haveἔχεινfromἀπὸthoseτῶνoutsideἔξωθεν,so thatἵναnotμὴintoεἰςreproachὀνειδισμὸνhe might fallἐμπέσῃandκαὶ[the] snareπαγίδαof theτοῦdevilδιαβόλου.
8DeaconsΔιακόνουςlikewiseὡσαύτως[must be] dignifiedσεμνούς,notμὴdouble-tonguedδιλόγους,notμὴto wineοἴνῳmuchπολλῷbeing givenπροσέχοντας,notμὴgreedy of dishonest gainαἰσχροκερδεῖς,
9holdingἔχονταςto theτὸmysteryμυστήριονof theτῆςfaithπίστεωςwithἐνclearκαθαρᾷa conscienceσυνειδήσει.
10Alsoκαὶtheseοὗτοιnowδὲlet them be testedδοκιμαζέσθωσανfirstπρῶτον,thenεἶταlet them serveδιακονείτωσανblamelessἀνέγκλητοιbeingὄντες.
11Womenγυναῖκαςlikewiseὡσαύτως[must be] dignifiedσεμνάς,notμὴslanderersδιαβόλους,clear-mindedνηφαλίους,faithfulπιστὰςinἐνall thingsπᾶσιν.
12Deaconsδιάκονοιlet beἔστωσανof oneμιᾶςwifeγυναικὸςhusbandsἄνδρες,[their] childrenτέκνωνwellκαλῶςmanagingπροϊστάμενοιandκαὶtheτῶνownἰδίωνhouseholdsοἴκων·
13Thoseοἱforγὰρwellκαλῶςhaving servedδιακονήσαντεςa standingβαθμὸνfor themselvesἑαυτοῖςgoodκαλὸνacquireπεριποιοῦνταιandκαὶgreatπολλὴνconfidenceπαρρησίανinἐν[the] faithπίστειthat [is]τῇinἐνChristΧριστῷJesusἸησοῦ.
14These thingsΤαῦτάto youσοιI am writingγράφω,hopingἐλπίζωνto comeἐλθεῖνtoπρὸςyouσὲquicklyἐν*τάχει,
15ifἐὰνhoweverδὲI should delayβραδύνω,so thatἵναyou may knowεἰδῇςhowπῶςit behooves [one]δεῖinἐν[the] householdοἴκῳof Godθεοῦto conduct oneselfἀναστρέφεσθαι,whichἥτιςisἐστὶν[the] churchἐκκλησίαof Godθεοῦ[the] livingζῶντος,[the] pillarστῦλοςandκαὶbaseἑδραίωμαof theτῆςtruthἀληθείας·
16Andκαὶconfessedlyὁμολογουμένωςgreatμέγαisἐστὶνtheτὸτῆςof godlinessεὐσεβείαςmysteryμυστήριον·WhoὋςwas revealedἐφανερώθηinἐν[the] fleshσαρκί,was justifiedἐδικαιώθηinἐν[the] Spiritπνεύματι,was seenὤφθηby angelsἀγγέλοις,was proclaimedἐκηρύχθηamongἐν[the] nationsἔθνεσιν,was believed onἐπιστεύθηinἐν[the] worldκόσμῳ,was taken upἀνελήμφθηinἐνgloryδόξῃ.
