2 Corinthians 2
1I judgedἔκριναbutγὰρwithin myselfἐμαυτῷthisτοῦτο,τὸnotμὴagainπάλινinἐνgriefλύπῃtoπρὸςyouὑμᾶςto comeἐλθεῖν·
2IfεἰforγὰρIἐγὼgrieveλυπῶyouὑμᾶς,againκαὶwhoτίςὁis gladdeningεὐφραίνωνmeμεifεἰnotμὴthe [one]ὁbeing grievedλυπούμενοςbyἐξmeἐμοῦ;
3AndκαὶI wroteἔγραψαthisτοῦτοsame thingαὐτὸso thatἵναnotμὴhaving comeἐλθὼνgriefλύπηνI might haveσχῶfrom [those]ἀφ’of whomὧνit behoovesἔδειmeμεto rejoiceχαίρειν,trustingπεποιθὼςinἐπὶallπάνταςyouὑμᾶςthatὅτιἡmyἐμὴjoyχαρὰof allπάντωνof youὑμῶνisἐστιν.
4Out ofἐκforγὰρmuchπολλῆςafflictionθλίψεωςandκαὶanguishσυνοχῆςof heartκαρδίαςI wroteἔγραψαto youὑμῖνthroughδιὰmanyπολλῶνtearsδακρύων,notοὐχthatἵναyou might be grievedλυπηθῆτε,butἀλλὰtheτὴνloveἀγάπηνthatἵναyou might knowγνῶτεthatἣνI haveἔχωmore abundantlyπερισσοτέρωςtowardεἰςyouὑμᾶς.
5IfΕἰhoweverδέanyoneτιςhas caused griefλελύπηκεν,notοὐκmeἐμὲhas he grievedλελύπηκεν,butἀλλὰinἀπὸpartμέρουςthatἵναnotμὴI might put it too severelyἐπιβαρῶallπάνταςyouὑμᾶς.
6Sufficientἱκανὸνtoτῷsuch a oneτοιούτῳ[is] theἡpunishmentἐπιτιμίαthisαὕτηwhich [is]ἡbyὑπὸtheτῶνmajorityπλειόνων,
7so thatὥστεon the contraryτοὐναντίονratherμᾶλλονfor youὑμᾶςto forgiveχαρίσασθαιandκαὶto comfort [him]παρακαλέσαι,lestμήperhapsπωςτῇby more abundantπερισσοτέρᾳsorrowλύπῃshould be overwhelmedκαταποθῇὁsuch a oneτοιοῦτος.
8ThereforeδιὸI exhortπαρακαλῶyouὑμᾶςto confirmκυρῶσαιtowardεἰςhimαὐτὸνloveἀγάπην·
9Forεἰςthisτοῦτοindeedγὰρalsoκαὶdid I writeἔγραψαso thatἵναI might knowγνῶtheτὴνproofδοκιμὴνof youὑμῶν,whetherεἰtoεἰςeverythingπάνταobedientὑπήκοοίyou areἐστε.
10To whomeverᾧnowδέanythingτιyou forgiveχαρίζεσθε,I alsoκἀγώ·andκαὶforγὰρIἐγὼto whomὃI have forgivenκεχάρισμαι,ifεἴanythingτιI have forgivenκεχάρισμαι,[it is] for the sake ofδι’youὑμᾶςinἐν[the] personπροσώπῳof ChristΧριστοῦ,
11so thatἵναnotμὴwe should be outwittedπλεονεκτηθῶμενbyὑπὸτοῦSatanΣατανᾶ,notοὐforγὰρof hisαὐτοῦτὰschemesνοήματαwe are ignorantἀγνοοῦμεν.
12Having comeἘλθὼνnowδὲtoεἰςτὴνTroasΤρῳάδαforεἰςtheτὸgospelεὐαγγέλιοντοῦof ChristΧριστοῦalsoκαὶa doorθύραςto meμοιhaving been openedἀνεῳγμένηςinἐν[the] Lordκυρίῳ,
13notοὐκI hadἔσχηκαrestἄνεσινin theτῷspiritπνεύματίof meμουin theτῷnotμὴfindingεὑρεῖνmyμεTitusΤίτονtheτὸνbrotherἀδελφόνof meμου,insteadἀλλὰhaving taken leave ofἀποταξάμενοςthemαὐτοῖςI went outἐξῆλθονtoεἰςMacedoniaΜακεδονίαν.
14ToΤῷhoweverδὲGodθεῷ[be] thanksχάριςthe [One]τῷalwaysπάντοτεleading in triumphθριαμβεύοντιusἡμᾶςinἐντῷChristΧριστῷandκαὶtheτὴνfragranceὀσμὴνof theτῆςknowledgeγνώσεωςof Himαὐτοῦmaking manifestφανεροῦντιthroughδι’usἡμῶνinἐνeveryπαντὶplaceτόπῳ·
15Forὅτιof ChristΧριστοῦa sweet perfumeεὐωδίαwe areἐσμὲντῷto Godθεῷinἐνthoseτοῖςbeing savedσῳζομένοιςandκαὶinἐνthoseτοῖςperishingἀπολλυμένοις,
16to oneοἷςindeedμὲνan odorὀσμὴfromἐκdeathθανάτουtoεἰςdeathθάνατον,to oneοἷςnowδὲa fragranceὀσμὴfromἐκlifeζωῆςtoεἰςlifeζωήν.Andκαὶforπρὸςthese thingsταῦταwho [is]τίςsufficientἱκανός;
17Notοὐforγάρwe areἐσμενlikeὡςtheοἱmanyπολλοὶpeddlingκαπηλεύοντεςtheτὸνwordλόγοντοῦof Godθεοῦ,butἀλλ’asὡςofἐξsincerityεἰλικρινείας,butἀλλ’asὡςofἐκGodθεοῦbeforeκατέναντιGodθεοῦinἐνChristΧριστῷwe speakλαλοῦμεν.
