1ThisΤαύτηνnowἤδη,belovedἀγαπητοί,[is the] secondδευτέρανto youὑμῖνI am writingγράφωletterἐπιστολήν,inἐνwhichαἷςI am stirring upδιεγείρωof youὑμῶνinἐνputting [you] in remembranceὑπομνήσειτὴνpureεἰλικρινῆmindδιάνοιαν,
2to rememberμνησθῆναιtheτῶνhaving been spoken beforehandπροειρημένωνwordsῥημάτωνbyὑπὸtheτῶνholyἁγίωνprophetsπροφητῶνandκαὶof theτῆςτῶνapostlesἀποστόλωνthrough yourὑμῶνcommandmentἐντολῆςof theτοῦLordκυρίουandκαὶSaviorσωτῆρος,
3thisτοῦτοfirstπρῶτονknowingγινώσκοντεςthatὅτιwill comeἐλεύσονταιinἐπ’[the] lastἐσχάτωνof theτῶνdaysἡμερῶνwithἐνscoffingἐμπαιγμονῇscoffersἐμπαῖκταιaccording toκατὰτὰςownἰδίαςevil desiresἐπιθυμίαςof themαὐτῶνfollowingπορευόμενοι
4andκαὶsayingλέγοντες·WhereΠοῦisἐστινtheἡpromiseἐπαγγελίαof theτῆςcomingπαρουσίαςof Himαὐτοῦ;Fromἀφ’[the time] thatἧςforγὰρtheοἱfathersπατέρεςfell asleepἐκοιμήθησαν,all thingsπάνταas they wereοὕτωςcontinueδιαμένειfromἀπ’[the] beginningἀρχῆςof creationκτίσεως.
5It is concealed fromλανθάνειindeedγὰρthemαὐτοὺςthisτοῦτοwillinglyθέλονταςthatὅτιheavensοὐρανοὶexistedἦσανlong agoἔκπαλαιandκαὶ[the] earthγῆout ofἐξwaterὕδατοςandκαὶthroughδι’waterὕδατοςhaving been composedσυνεστῶσαby theτῷτοῦof Godθεοῦwordλόγῳ,
6throughδι’whichὧνtheὁat that timeτότεworldκόσμοςwith waterὕδατιhaving been delugedκατακλυσθεὶςperishedἀπώλετο·
7οἱButδὲnowνῦνthe heavensοὐρανοὶandκαὶtheἡearthγῆby theτῷsameαὐτῷwordλόγῳhaving been stored upτεθησαυρισμένοιexistεἰσὶνfor fireπυρὶbeing keptτηρούμενοιuntoεἰς[the] dayἡμέρανof judgmentκρίσεωςandκαὶdestructionἀπωλείαςτῶνof ungodlyἀσεβῶνmenἀνθρώπων.
8[This] oneἛνhoweverδὲthingτοῦτοnotμὴlet be hidden fromλανθανέτωyouὑμᾶς,belovedἀγαπητοί,thatὅτιoneμίαdayἡμέραwith [the]παρὰLord [is]κυρίῳlikeὡςa thousandχίλιαyearsἔτηandκαὶa thousandχίλιαyearsἔτηlikeὡςdayἡμέραoneμία.
9Notοὐdoes delayβραδύνειthe Lordκύριοςtheτῆςpromiseἐπαγγελίας,asὥςsomeτινεςslownessβραδύτηταesteemἡγοῦνται,butἀλλὰis patientμακροθυμεῖtowardεἰςyouὑμᾶς,notμὴwillingβουλόμενός[for] anyτιναςto perishἀπολέσθαιbutἀλλὰallπάνταςtoεἰςrepentanceμετάνοιανto comeχωρῆσαι.
10Will comeἥξειhoweverδὲ[the] dayἡμέραof [the] Lordκυρίουlikeὡςa thiefκλέπτης,inἐνwhichᾗtheοἱheavensοὐρανοὶwith a roarῥοιζηδὸνwill pass awayπαρελεύσονται,elementsστοιχεῖαthenδὲburning with heatκαυσούμεναwill be dissolvedλυθήσεται,andκαὶ[the] earthγῆandκαὶtheτὰinἐνitαὐτῇworksἔργαwill be foundεὑρεθήσεται.
11These thingsΤούτωνin this wayοὕτωςallπάντωνbeing dissolvedλυομένωνwhat kindποταποὺςoughtδεῖto beὑπάρχεινyouὑμᾶςInἐνholyἁγίαιςconductἀναστροφαῖςandκαὶgodlinessεὐσεβείαις,
12expectingπροσδοκῶνταςandκαὶhasteningσπεύδονταςtheτὴνcomingπαρουσίανof theτῆςτοῦof Godθεοῦdayἡμέρας,by reason ofδι’whichἣν[the] heavensοὐρανοὶbeing set on fireπυρούμενοιwill be dissolvedλυθήσονταιandκαὶ[the] elementsστοιχεῖαburning with heatκαυσούμεναare meltingτήκεται·
13Newκαινοὺςhoweverδὲheavensοὐρανοὺςandκαὶearthγῆνa newκαινὴνaccording toκατὰtheτὸpromiseἐπάγγελμαof Himαὐτοῦwe are awaitingπροσδοκῶμεν,inἐνwhichοἷςrighteousnessδικαιοσύνηdwellsκατοικεῖ.
14ThereforeΔιό,belovedἀγαπητοί,these thingsταῦταexpectingπροσδοκῶντεςbe diligentσπουδάσατεwithout spotἄσπιλοιandκαὶwithout blemishἀμώμητοιby Himαὐτῷto be foundεὑρεθῆναιinἐνpeaceεἰρήνῃ,
15Andκαὶtheτὴνof theτοῦLordκυρίουof usἡμῶνpatienceμακροθυμίαν[as] salvationσωτηρίανesteemἡγεῖσθε,just asκαθὼςalsoκαὶὁbelovedἀγαπητὸςof usἡμῶνbrotherἀδελφὸςPaulΠαῦλοςaccording toκατὰtheτὴνhaving been givenδοθεῖσανto himαὐτῷwisdomσοφίανwroteἔγραψενto youὑμῖν,
16asὡςalsoκαὶinἐνallπάσαιςταῖςlettersἐπιστολαῖςspeakingλαλῶνinἐνthemαὐταῖςconcerningπερὶthese thingsτούτων,amongἐνwhichαἷςareἐστινdifficult to be understoodδυσνόητάsome thingsτινα,whichἃtheοἱignorantἀμαθεῖςandκαὶunestablishedἀστήρικτοιdistortστρεβλοῦσινasὡςalsoκαὶtheτὰςotherλοιπὰςScripturesγραφὰςtoπρὸςtheτὴνownἰδίανof themαὐτῶνdestructionἀπώλειαν.
17Youὑμεῖςthereforeοὖν,belovedἀγαπητοί,knowing [this] beforehandπρογινώσκοντεςbewareφυλάσσεσθεthatἵναnotμὴby theτῇof theτῶνlawlessἀθέσμωνerrorπλάνῃhaving been led awayσυναπαχθέντεςyou should fall fromἐκπέσητεtheτοῦownἰδίουsteadfastnessστηριγμοῦ,
18Growαὐξάνετεhoweverδὲinἐνgraceχάριτιandκαὶin knowledgeγνώσειof theτοῦLordκυρίουof usἡμῶνandκαὶSaviorσωτῆροςJesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦ.To Him [be]αὐτῷtheἡgloryδόξαbothκαὶnowνῦνandκαὶtoεἰς[the] dayἡμέρανof eternityαἰῶνος.Amenἀμήν.
