2 Timothy 2
1YouΣὺthereforeοὖν,childτέκνονof meμου,be strongἐνδυναμοῦinἐνtheτῇgraceχάριτιthat [is]τῇinἐνChristΧριστῷJesusἸησοῦ,
2Andκαὶthe things whichἃyou have heardἤκουσαςfromπαρ’meἐμοῦamongδιὰmanyπολλῶνwitnessesμαρτύρων,theseταῦταentrustπαράθουto faithfulπιστοῖςmenἀνθρώποις,such asοἵτινεςsufficientἱκανοὶwill beἔσονταιalsoκαὶothersἑτέρουςto teachδιδάξαι.
3Share in sufferingσυγκακοπάθησονasὡς[a] goodκαλὸςsoldierστρατιώτηςof ChristΧριστοῦJesusἸησοῦ.
4No oneοὐδεὶςserving as a soldierστρατευόμενοςentangles himselfἐμπλέκεταιin theταῖςof thisτοῦlifeβίουaffairsπραγματείαις,thatἵναthe [one]τῷhaving enlisted himστρατολογήσαντιhe might pleaseἀρέσῃ·
5Ifἐὰνnowδὲalsoκαὶcompetesἀθλῇanyoneτις,notοὐhe is crownedστεφανοῦταιifἐὰνnotμὴlawfullyνομίμωςhe shall have competedἀθλήσῃ·
6For theτὸνhardworkingκοπιῶνταfarmerγεωργὸνit is necessaryδεῖfirstπρῶτονof theτῶνfruitsκαρπῶνto partakeμεταλαμβάνειν.
7Considerνόειthe thingsὃI am sayingλέγω·will giveδώσειforγάρyouσοιtheὁLordκύριοςunderstandingσύνεσινinἐνall thingsπᾶσιν.
8RememberΜνημόνευεJesusἸησοῦνChristΧριστὸνhaving been raisedἐγηγερμένονout fromἐκ[the] deadνεκρῶν,of [the]ἐκseedσπέρματοςof DavidΔαυίδ,according toκατὰτὸgospelεὐαγγέλιόνmyμου·
9inἐνwhichᾧI suffer hardshipκακοπαθῶeven toμέχριchainsδεσμῶνasὡςan evildoerκακοῦργος.Butἀλλὰtheὁwordλόγοςτοῦof Godθεοῦnotοὐis boundδέδεται·
10Because ofδιὰthisτοῦτοall thingsπάνταI endureὑπομένωfor the sake ofδιὰtheτοὺςelectἐκλεκτούς,so thatἵναalsoκαὶtheyαὐτοὶ[the] salvationσωτηρίαςmay obtainτύχωσινthat [is]τῆςinἐνChristΧριστῷJesusἸησοῦwithμετὰgloryδόξηςeternalαἰωνίου.
11Trustworthy [is]πιστὸςtheὁsayingλόγος·Ifεἰforγὰρwe have died together [with Him]συναπεθάνομεν,alsoκαὶwe will live together [with Him]συζήσομεν·
12ifεἰwe endureὑπομένομεν,alsoκαὶwe will reign together [with Him]συμβασιλεύσομεν·ifεἰwe will deny [Him]ἀρνησόμεθα,He alsoκἀκεῖνοςwill denyἀρνήσεταιusἡμᾶς·
13ifεἰwe are faithlessἀπιστοῦμεν,Heἐκεῖνοςfaithfulπιστὸςremainsμένει·to denyἀρνήσασθαιHimselfἑαυτὸνnotοὐHe is ableδύναται.
14These thingsΤαῦταremind [them]ὑπομίμνῃσκε,solemnly charging [them]διαμαρτυρόμενοςbeforeἐνώπιοντοῦthe Lordκυρίου,notμὴto quarrel about wordsλογομαχεῖν,forἐπ’nothingοὐδὲνprofitableχρήσιμον,[but] toἐπὶ[the] subversionκαταστροφῇof thoseτῶνhearingἀκουόντων.
15Hastenσπούδασονyourselfσεαυτὸνapprovedδόκιμονto presentπαραστῆσαιτῷto Godθεῷ,a workmanἐργάτηνnot ashamedἀνεπαίσχυντον,accurately handlingὀρθοτομοῦνταtheτὸνwordλόγοντῆςof truthἀληθείας.
16τὰςButδὲworldlyβεβήλουςempty babblingsκενοφωνίαςavoidπεριΐστασο·onἐπὶto moreπλεῖονforγὰρthey will leadπροκόψουσινungodlinessἀσεβείας,
17andκαὶtheὁtalkλόγοςof themαὐτῶνlikeὡςgangreneγάγγραιναpasture to growνομὴνwill haveἕξει·among whomὧνareἐστινHymenaeusὙμέναιοςandκαὶPhiletusΦίλητος,
18whoοἵτινεςconcerningπερὶtheτὴνtruthἀλήθειανhave gone astrayἠστόχησαν,assertingλέγοντεςresurrectionἀνάστασινalreadyἤδηto have taken placeγεγονέναι,andκαὶthey are overthrowingἀνατρέπουσινtheτήνof someτινωνfaithπίστιν.
19ὁNeverthelessμέντοιthe firmστερεὸςfoundationθεμέλιοςofτοῦGodθεοῦstandsἕστηκεν,havingἔχωνtheτὴνsealσφραγῖδαthisταύτην·KnowsἜγνω[the] LordκύριοςthoseτοὺςbeingὄνταςHisαὐτοῦ,andκαί·Let departἈποστήτωfromἀπὸiniquityἀδικίαςeveryoneπᾶςὁnamingὀνομάζωνtheτὸnameὄνομαof the Lordκυρίου.
20InἘνa greatμεγάλῃnowδὲhouseοἰκίᾳnotοὐκthere areἔστινonlyμόνονvesselsσκεύηgoldenχρυσᾶandκαὶsilverἀργυρᾶbutἀλλὰalsoκαὶwoodenξύλιναandκαὶearthenὀστράκινα,andκαὶsomeἃindeedμὲνuntoεἰςhonorτιμὴνsomeἃhoweverδὲuntoεἰςdishonorἀτιμίαν·
21Ifἐὰνthereforeοὖνanyoneτιςshall have cleansedἐκκαθάρῃhimselfἑαυτὸνfromἀπὸtheseτούτων,he will beἔσταιa vesselσκεῦοςforεἰςhonorτιμήν,having been sanctifiedἡγιασμένον,usefulεὔχρηστονto theτῷMasterδεσπότῃ,forεἰςeveryπᾶνworkἔργονgoodἀγαθὸνhaving been preparedἡτοιμασμένον.
22τὰςAndδὲyouthfulνεωτερικὰςlustsἐπιθυμίαςfleeφεῦγε,pursueδίωκεnowδὲrighteousnessδικαιοσύνην,faithπίστιν,loveἀγάπην,[and] peaceεἰρήνηνalong withμετὰthoseτῶνcalling onἐπικαλουμένωνtheτὸνLordκύριονout ofἐκpureκαθαρᾶςa heartκαρδίας.
23τὰςAndδὲfoolishμωρὰςandκαὶignorantἀπαιδεύτουςspeculationsζητήσειςrefuseπαραιτοῦ,knowingεἰδὼςthatὅτιthey breedγεννῶσιquarrelsμάχας·
24[The] bond-servantδοῦλονnowδὲof [the] Lordκυρίουnotοὐit behoovesδεῖto quarrelμάχεσθαι,butἀλλὰgentleἤπιονto beεἶναιtowardπρὸςallπάντας,able to teachδιδακτικόν,forbearingἀνεξίκακον,
25inἐνgentlenessπραΰτητιdiscipliningπαιδεύονταthoseτοὺςopposingἀντιδιατιθεμένους,perhapsμήποτεmay giveδώῃthemαὐτοῖςὁGodθεὸςrepentanceμετάνοιανuntoεἰςa knowledgeἐπίγνωσινof [the] truthἀληθείας,
26andκαὶthey might come to their sensesἀνανήψωσινout ofἐκtheτῆςof theτοῦdevilδιαβόλουsnareπαγίδος,having been capturedἐζωγρημένοιbyὑπ’himαὐτοῦforεἰςτὸhisἐκείνουwillθέλημα.
