Luke 14
1AndΚαὶit came to passἐγένετοonἐνtheτῷgoingἐλθεῖνof Himαὐτὸνintoεἰςa houseοἶκόνof oneτινοςof theτῶνrulersἀρχόντωνof theτῶνPhariseesΦαρισαίωνon a Sabbathσαββάτῳto eatφαγεῖνbreadἄρτονandκαὶtheyαὐτοὶwereἦσανwatchingπαρατηρούμενοιHimαὐτόν.
2Andκαὶbeholdἰδοὺa manἄνθρωπόςcertainτιςthere wasἦνwith dropsyὑδρωπικὸςbeforeἔμπροσθενHimαὐτοῦ.
3AndκαὶansweringἀποκριθεὶςὁJesusἸησοῦςspokeεἶπενtoπρὸςtheτοὺςlawyersνομικοὺςandκαὶto [the] PhariseesΦαρισαίουςsayingλέγων·Is it lawfulἜξεστινon theτῷSabbathσαββάτῳto healθεραπεῦσαιorἢnotοὔ;
4οἱButδὲthey were silentἡσύχασαν.Andκαὶhaving taken hold [of him]ἐπιλαβόμενοςHe healedἰάσατοhimαὐτὸνandκαὶlet [him] goἀπέλυσεν.
5AndκαὶtoπρὸςthemαὐτοὺςHe saidεἶπεν·WhichΤίνοςof youὑμῶνa sonυἱὸςorἢan oxβοῦςintoεἰςa pitφρέαρwill fallπεσεῖται,alsoκαὶnotοὐκimmediatelyεὐθέωςhe will pull upἀνασπάσειhimαὐτὸνonἐνdayἡμέρᾳtheτοῦSabbathσαββάτου;
6Andκαὶnotοὐκthey were ableἴσχυσανto replyἀνταποκριθῆναιtoπρὸςthese thingsταῦτα.
7He was speakingἜλεγενthenδὲtoπρὸςthoseτοὺςhaving been invitedκεκλημένουςa parableπαραβολήν,remarkingἐπέχωνhowπῶςtheτὰςfirst placesπρωτοκλισίαςthey were choosing outἐξελέγοντο,sayingλέγωνtoπρὸςthemαὐτούς·
8WhenὍτανyou are invitedκληθῇςbyὑπόanyoneτινοςtoεἰςwedding feastsγάμους,notμὴdo reclineκατακλιθῇςinεἰςtheτὴνfirst placeπρωτοκλισίαν,lestμήποτε[one] more honorableἐντιμότερόςthan youσουmight have beenᾖinvitedκεκλημένοςbyὑπ’himαὐτοῦ
9andκαὶhaving comeἐλθὼνthe [one]ὁyouσὲandκαὶhimαὐτὸνhaving invitedκαλέσαςwill sayἐρεῖto youσοι·GiveΔὸςto this oneτούτῳ[your] placeτόπον,andκαὶthenτότεyou should beginἄρξῃwithμετὰshameαἰσχύνηςtheτὸνlastἔσχατονplaceτόπονto takeκατέχειν.
10Butἀλλ’whenὅτανyou are invitedκληθῇςhaving goneπορευθεὶςreclineἀνάπεσεinεἰςtheτὸνlastἔσχατονplaceτόπον,so thatἵναwhenὅτανmight comeἔλθῃthe [one]ὁhaving invitedκεκληκώςyouσεhe will sayἐρεῖto youσοι·FriendΦίλε,come upπροσανάβηθιhigherἀνώτερον·Thenτότεwill beἔσταιto youσοιgloryδόξαbeforeἐνώπιονallπάντωνthoseτῶνrecliningσυνανακειμένων[with] youσοι.
11Forὅτιeveryoneπᾶςὁexaltingὑψῶνhimselfἑαυτὸνwill be humbledταπεινωθήσεταιandκαὶthe [one]ὁhumblingταπεινῶνhimselfἑαυτὸνwill be exaltedὑψωθήσεται.
12He was sayingἜλεγενthenδὲalsoκαὶto the [one]τῷhaving invitedκεκληκότιHimαὐτόν·WhenὍτανyou makeποιῇςa dinnerἄριστονorἢa supperδεῖπνον,notμὴcallφώνειτοὺςfriendsφίλουςof youσουnorμηδὲtheτοὺςbrothersἀδελφούςof youσουnorμηδὲtheτοὺςrelativesσυγγενεῖςof youσουnorμηδὲneighborsγείτοναςrichπλουσίους,lestμήποτεalsoκαὶtheyαὐτοὶshould invite in returnἀντικαλέσωσίνyouσεandκαὶbe madeγένηταιrecompenseἀνταπόδομάto youσοι.
13Butἀλλ’whenὅτανa feastδοχὴνyou makeποιῇς,callκάλειthe poorπτωχούς,the crippledἀναπείρους,the lameχωλούς,the blindτυφλούς·
14andκαὶblessedμακάριοςyou will beἔσῃ,becauseὅτιnothingοὐκthey haveἔχουσινto repayἀνταποδοῦναίyouσοι,It will be recompensedἀνταποδοθήσεταιforγάρto youσοιinἐνtheτῇresurrectionἀναστάσειof theτῶνrighteousδικαίων.
15Having heardἈκούσαςthenδέoneτιςof thoseτῶνreclining with [Him]συνανακειμένωνthese thingsταῦταhe saidεἶπενto Himαὐτῷ·Blessed [is he]Μακάριοςwhoὅστιςwill eatφάγεταιbreadἄρτονinἐνtheτῇkingdomβασιλείᾳτοῦof Godθεοῦ.
16ὁButδὲHe saidεἶπενto himαὐτῷ·A manἌνθρωπόςcertainτιςwas preparingἐποίειa supperδεῖπνονgreatμέγα,andκαὶinvitedἐκάλεσενmanyπολλούς,
17Andκαὶhe sentἀπέστειλενtheτὸνservantδοῦλονof himαὐτοῦat theτῇhourὥρᾳof theτοῦsupperδείπνουto sayεἰπεῖνto thoseτοῖςhaving been invitedκεκλημένοις·ComeἜρχεσθε,forὅτιnowἤδηreadyἕτοιμά[it] isἐστιν.
18Andκαὶbeganἤρξαντοwithἀπὸone [voice]μιᾶςallπάντεςto excuse themselvesπαραιτεῖσθαι.Theὁfirstπρῶτοςsaidεἶπενto himαὐτῷ·A fieldἈγρὸνI have boughtἠγόρασαandκαὶI haveἔχωneedἀνάγκηνgoing outἐξελθὼνto seeἰδεῖνitαὐτόν·I beg ofἐρωτῶyouσε,holdἔχεmeμεexcusedπαρῃτημένον.
19Andκαὶanotherἕτεροςsaidεἶπεν·YokeΖεύγηof oxenβοῶνI have boughtἠγόρασαfiveπέντεandκαὶI am goingπορεύομαιto proveδοκιμάσαιthemαὐτά·I beg ofἐρωτῶyouσε,holdἔχεmeμεexcusedπαρῃτημένον.
20Andκαὶanotherἕτεροςsaidεἶπεν·A wifeΓυναῖκαI have marriedἔγημαandκαὶbecause ofδιὰthisτοῦτοnotοὐI am ableδύναμαιto comeἐλθεῖν.
21Andκαὶhaving comeπαραγενόμενοςtheὁservantδοῦλοςreportedἀπήγγειλενto theτῷmasterκυρίῳof himαὐτοῦthese thingsταῦτα.Thenτότεhaving become angryὀργισθεὶςtheὁmaster of the houseοἰκοδεσπότηςsaidεἶπενtoτῷservantδούλῳof himαὐτοῦ·Go outἜξελθεquicklyταχέωςintoεἰςtheτὰςstreetsπλατείαςandκαὶlanesῥύμαςof theτῆςcityπόλεως,andκαὶtheτοὺςpoorπτωχοὺςandκαὶcrippledἀναπείρουςandκαὶblindτυφλοὺςandκαὶlameχωλοὺςbring inεἰσάγαγεhereὧδε.
22Andκαὶsaidεἶπενtheὁservantδοῦλος·SirΚύριε,it has been doneγέγονενasὃyou did commandἐπέταξας,andκαὶstillἔτιroomτόποςthere isἐστίν.
23Andκαὶsaidεἶπενtheὁmasterκύριοςtoπρὸςtheτὸνservantδοῦλον·Go outἜξελθεintoεἰςtheτὰςhighwaysὁδοὺςandκαὶhedgesφραγμοὺςandκαὶcompel [them]ἀνάγκασονto come inεἰσελθεῖν,so thatἵναmay be filledγεμισθῇof meμουtheὁhouseοἶκος·
24I sayλέγωforγὰρto youὑμῖνthatὅτιnot oneοὐδεὶςtheτῶνmenἀνδρῶνof thoseἐκείνωντῶνhaving been invitedκεκλημένωνwill tasteγεύσεταίof meμουtheτοῦsupperδείπνου.
25Were going withΣυνεπορεύοντοthenδὲHimαὐτῷcrowdsὄχλοιgreatπολλοί,andκαὶhaving turnedστραφεὶςHe saidεἶπενtoπρὸςthemαὐτούς·
26IfΕἴanyoneτιςcomesἔρχεταιtoπρόςMeμεandκαὶnotοὐhatesμισεῖtheτὸνfatherπατέραof himselfἑαυτοῦandκαὶtheτὴνmotherμητέραandκαὶtheτὴνwifeγυναῖκαandκαὶtheτὰchildrenτέκναandκαὶtheτοὺςbrothersἀδελφοὺςandκαὶtheτὰςsistersἀδελφάς,yesἔτιandτεevenκαὶtheτὴνlifeψυχὴνof himἑαυτοῦ,notοὐhe is ableδύναταιto beεἶναίof Meμουdiscipleμαθητής.
27Whoeverὅστιςnotοὐcarriesβαστάζειtheτὸνcrossσταυρὸνof himselfἑαυτοῦandκαὶcomesἔρχεταιafterὀπίσωMeμου,notοὐis ableδύναταιto beεἶναίMyμουdiscipleμαθητής.
28Whichτίςforγὰρofἐξyouὑμῶνdesiringθέλωνa towerπύργονto buildοἰκοδομῆσαιnotοὐχὶfirstπρῶτονhaving sat downκαθίσαςcountsψηφίζειtheτὴνcostδαπάνην,whetherεἰhe hasἔχειforεἰς[its] completionἀπαρτισμόν;
29Thusἵναotherwiseμήποτεhe having laidθέντοςof itαὐτοῦa foundationθεμέλιονandκαὶnotμὴbeing ableἰσχύοντοςto finishἐκτελέσαιallπάντεςοἱseeing [it]θεωροῦντεςmay beginἄρξωνταιhimαὐτῷto mockἐμπαίζειν
30sayingλέγοντεςὅτιThisΟὗτοςὁmanἄνθρωποςbeganἤρξατοto buildοἰκοδομεῖνandκαὶnotοὐκwas ableἴσχυσενto finishἐκτελέσαι.
31Orἢwhatτίςkingβασιλεὺςproceedingπορευόμενοςwith anotherἑτέρῳkingβασιλεῖto engageσυμβαλεῖνinεἰςwarπόλεμονnotοὐχὶhaving sat downκαθίσαςfirstπρῶτονwill take counselβουλεύσεταιwhetherεἰableδυνατόςhe isἐστινwithἐνtenδέκαthousandχιλιάσινto meetὑπαντῆσαιthe [one]τῷwithμετὰtwentyεἴκοσιthousandχιλιάδωνcomingἐρχομένῳagainstἐπ’himαὐτόν;
32Ifεἰnowδὲnotμήγε,stillἔτιof himαὐτοῦfar offπόρρωbeingὄντοςan embassyπρεσβείανhaving sentἀποστείλαςhe asksἐρωτᾷτὰforπρὸςpeaceεἰρήνην.
33Soοὕτωςthereforeοὖνevery oneπᾶςofἐξyouὑμῶνwhoὃςnotοὐκdoes give upἀποτάσσεταιallπᾶσινthatτοῖςhe himselfἑαυτοῦpossessesὑπάρχουσινnotοὐis ableδύναταιto beεἶναίMyμουdiscipleμαθητής.
34Good [is]Καλὸνthereforeοὖνtheτὸsaltἅλας·ifἐὰνhoweverδὲevenκαὶtheτὸsaltἅλαςbecomes tastelessμωρανθῇ,withἐνwhatτίνιwill it be seasonedἀρτυθήσεται;
35Neitherοὔτεforεἰςsoilγῆνnorοὔτεforεἰςmanureκοπρίανfitεὔθετόνis itἐστιν·outἔξωthey castβάλλουσινitαὐτό.The [one]ὁhavingἔχωνearsὦταto hearἀκούεινlet him hearἀκουέτω.
