Matthew 17

1AndΚαὶafterμεθ’daysἡμέραςsixἓξtakes with [Him]παραλαμβάνειὁJesusἸησοῦςτὸνPeterΠέτρονandκαὶJamesἸάκωβονandκαὶJohnἸωάννηνtheτὸνbrotherἀδελφὸνof himαὐτοῦ,andκαὶbrings upἀναφέρειthemαὐτοὺςintoεἰςa mountainὄροςhighὑψηλὸνbyκατ’themselvesἰδίαν.

2AndκαὶHe was transfiguredμετεμορφώθηbeforeἔμπροσθενthemαὐτῶν,andκαὶshoneἔλαμψενtheτὸfaceπρόσωπονof Himαὐτοῦlikeὡςtheὁsunἥλιος,τὰandδὲthe clothesἱμάτιαof Himαὐτοῦbecameἐγένετοwhiteλευκὰasὡςtheτὸlightφῶς.

3Andκαὶbeholdἰδοὺappearedὤφθηto themαὐτοῖςMosesΜωϋσῆςandκαὶElijahἨλίαςtalkingσυλλαλοῦντεςwithμετ’Himαὐτοῦ.

4AnsweringἀποκριθεὶςnowδὲὁPeterΠέτροςsaidεἶπεντῷto JesusἸησοῦ·LordΚύριε,goodκαλόνit isἐστινfor usἡμᾶςhereὧδεto beεἶναι·IfεἰYou wishθέλεις,I will makeποιήσωhereὧδεthreeτρεῖςtabernaclesσκηνάς,for Youσοὶoneμίανandκαὶfor MosesΜωϋσεῖoneμίανandκαὶElijahἨλίᾳoneμίαν.

5While yetἔτιheαὐτοῦwas speakingλαλοῦντοςbeholdἰδοὺa cloudνεφέληbrightφωτεινὴovershadowedἐπεσκίασενthemαὐτούς,andκαὶbeholdἰδοὺa voiceφωνὴout ofἐκtheτῆςcloudνεφέληςsayingλέγουσα·ThisΟὗτόςisἐστινtheὁSonυἱόςof Meμουtheὁbelovedἀγαπητός,inἐνwhomᾧI am well pleasedεὐδόκησα·Listenἀκούετεto Himαὐτοῦ.

6Andκαὶhaving heard [it]ἀκούσαντεςtheοἱdisciplesμαθηταὶfellἔπεσανuponἐπὶfaceπρόσωπονof themαὐτῶνandκαὶwere terrifiedἐφοβήθησανgreatlyσφόδρα.

7Andκαὶhaving come to [them]προσῆλθενὁJesusἸησοῦςandκαὶhaving touchedἁψάμενοςthemαὐτῶνHe saidεἶπεν·Rise upἘγέρθητεandκαὶnotμὴbe afraidφοβεῖσθε.

8Having lifted upἐπάραντεςandδὲtheτοὺςeyesὀφθαλμοὺςof themαὐτῶνno oneοὐδέναthey sawεἶδονifεἰnotμὴHimselfαὐτὸνJesusἸησοῦνaloneμόνον.

9AndΚαὶ[as] were descendingκαταβαινόντωνtheyαὐτῶνfromἐκtheτοῦmountainὄρουςinstructedἐνετείλατοthemαὐτοῖςὁJesusἸησοῦςsayingλέγων·To no oneΜηδενὶtellεἴπητεtheτὸvisionὅραμαuntilἕωςthatοὗtheὁSonυἱὸςτοῦof Manἀνθρώπουout fromἐκ[the] deadνεκρῶνis risenἐγερθῇ.

10AndκαὶaskedἐπηρώτησανHimαὐτὸνtheοἱdisciplesμαθηταὶsayingλέγοντες·WhyΤίthenοὖνtheοἱscribesγραμματεῖςsayλέγουσινthatὅτιElijahἨλίανit behoovesδεῖto comeἐλθεῖνfirstπρῶτον;

11ὁAndδὲansweringἀποκριθεὶςHe saidεἶπεν·ElijahἨλίαςindeedμὲνcomesἔρχεταιandκαὶwill restoreἀποκαταστήσειall thingsπάντα·

12I sayλέγωhoweverδὲto youὑμῖνthatὅτιElijahἨλίαςalreadyἤδηis comeἦλθεν,andκαὶnotοὐκthey knewἐπέγνωσανhimαὐτὸνbutἀλλὰdidἐποίησανtoἐνhimαὐτῷwhateverὅσαthey desiredἠθέλησαν·ThusοὕτωςalsoκαὶtheὁSonυἱὸςτοῦof Manἀνθρώπουis aboutμέλλειto sufferπάσχεινfromὑπ’themαὐτῶν.

13ThenτότεunderstoodσυνῆκανtheοἱdisciplesμαθηταὶthatὅτιconcerningπερὶJohnἸωάννουtheτοῦBaptistβαπτιστοῦHe spokeεἶπενto themαὐτοῖς.

14AndΚαὶthey having comeἐλθόντωνtoπρὸςtheτὸνcrowdὄχλονcameπροσῆλθενto Himαὐτῷa manἄνθρωποςkneeling down toγονυπετῶνHimαὐτὸν

15andκαὶsayingλέγων·LordΚύριε,have mercy onἐλέησόνmyμουτὸνsonυἱόν,forὅτιhe is epilepticσεληνιάζεταιandκαὶmiserablyκακῶςsuffersπάσχει,oftenπολλάκιςforγὰρhe fallsπίπτειintoεἰςtheτὸfireπῦρandκαὶoftenπολλάκιςintoεἰςtheτὸwaterὕδωρ.

16AndκαὶI broughtπροσήνεγκαhimαὐτὸνto theτοῖςdisciplesμαθηταῖςof Youσου,andκαὶnotοὐκthey were ableἠδυνήθησανhimαὐτὸνto healθεραπεῦσαι.

17AnsweringἀποκριθεὶςnowδὲὁJesusἸησοῦςsaidεἶπεν·OὮgenerationγενεὰunbelievingἄπιστοςandκαὶpervertedδιεστραμμένη,how longἕωςwhenπότεwithμεθ’youὑμῶνwill I beἔσομαι;How longἕωςwhenπότεwill I bear withἀνέξομαιyouὑμῶν;Bringφέρετέto Meμοιhimαὐτὸνhereὧδε.

18AndκαὶrebukedἐπετίμησενhimαὐτῷὁJesusἸησοῦς,andκαὶwent outἐξῆλθενfromἀπ’himαὐτοῦtheτὸdemonδαιμόνιον·andκαὶwas healedἐθεραπεύθηtheὁboyπαῖςfromἀπὸtheτῆςhourὥραςthatἐκείνης.

19ThenΤότεhaving comeπροσελθόντεςtheοἱdisciplesμαθηταὶτῷto JesusἸησοῦinκατ’privateἰδίανthey saidεἶπον·Because ofΔιὰwhyτίweἡμεῖςnotοὐκwere ableἠδυνήθημενto cast outἐκβαλεῖνitαὐτό;

20ὁAndδὲHe saidλέγειto themαὐτοῖς·Because ofΔιὰtheτὴνlittle faithὀλιγοπιστίανof youὑμῶν·TrulyἀμὴνforγὰρI sayλέγωto youὑμῖν,Ifἐὰνyou haveἔχητεfaithπίστινasὡςa seedκόκκονof mustardσινάπεως,you will sayἐρεῖτεto theτῷmountainὄρειto thisτούτῳ·MoveΜετάβαfrom hereἔνθενto thereἐκεῖ,andκαὶit will moveμεταβήσεται,Andκαὶnothingοὐδὲνwill be impossibleἀδυνατήσειfor youὑμῖν.

22Were abidingΣυστρεφομένωνnowδὲtheyαὐτῶνinἐντῇGalileeΓαλιλαίᾳsaidεἶπενto themαὐτοῖςὁJesusἸησοῦς·Is aboutΜέλλειtheὁSonυἱὸςτοῦof Manἀνθρώπουto be betrayedπαραδίδοσθαιintoεἰς[the] handsχεῖραςof menἀνθρώπων,

23andκαὶthey will killἀποκτενοῦσινHimαὐτόν,andκαὶon theτῇthirdτρίτῃdayἡμέρᾳHe will be raised upἐγερθήσεται.Andκαὶthey were grievedἐλυπήθησανdeeplyσφόδρα.

24Having comeἘλθόντωνnowδὲtheyαὐτῶνtoεἰςCapernaumΚαφαρναοὺμcameπροσῆλθονthoseοἱtheτὰdidrachmasδίδραχμαcollectingλαμβάνοντεςτῷto PeterΠέτρῳandκαὶsaidεἶπαν·TheὉTeacherδιδάσκαλοςof youὑμῶνnotοὐdoes he payτελεῖtheτὰdidrachmasδίδραχμα;

25He saysλέγει·YesΝαί.Andκαὶhe having enteredἐλθόνταintoεἰςtheτὴνhouseοἰκίανanticipatedπροέφθασενhimαὐτὸνὁJesusἸησοῦςsayingλέγων·WhatΤίyouσοιdo thinkδοκεῖ,SimonΣίμων;Theοἱkingsβασιλεῖςof theτῆςearthγῆςfromἀπὸwhomτίνωνdo they receiveλαμβάνουσινcustomτέληorἢtributeκῆνσον;Fromἀπὸtheτῶνsonsυἱῶνof themαὐτῶνorἢfromἀπὸτῶνstrangersἀλλοτρίων;

26He having saidεἰπόντοςnowδέ·FromἈπὸtheτῶνstrangersἀλλοτρίων,saidἔφηto himαὐτῷὁJesusἸησοῦς·thenἌρα*γεfreeἐλεύθεροίareεἰσινtheοἱsonsυἱοί.

27Thatἵναhoweverδὲnotμὴwe might offendσκανδαλίσωμενthemαὐτούς,having goneπορευθεὶςtoεἰςseaθάλασσανcastβάλεa hookἄγκιστρονandκαὶtheτὸνhaving come upἀναβάνταfirstπρῶτονfishἰχθὺνtakeἆρον,andκαὶhaving openedἀνοίξαςtheτὸmouthστόμαof itαὐτοῦyou will findεὑρήσειςa four-drachma coinστατῆρα·Thatἐκεῖνονhaving takenλαβὼνgiveδὸςto themαὐτοῖςforἀντὶMeἐμοῦandκαὶyourselfσοῦ.
