Romans 11

1I askΛέγωthenοὖν,notμὴdid rejectἀπώσατοὁGodθεὸςtheτὸνpeopleλαὸνof Himαὐτοῦ;Neverμὴmay it beγένοιτο·AlsoκαὶforγὰρIἐγὼan IsraeliteἸσραηλίτηςamεἰμί,of [the]ἐκseedσπέρματοςof AbrahamἈβραάμ,of [the] tribeφυλῆςof BenjaminΒενιαμίν.

2Notοὐκdid rejectἀπώσατοὁGodθεὸςtheτὸνpeopleλαὸνof HimαὐτοῦwhomὃνHe foreknewπροέγνω.Orἢnotοὐκknow youοἴδατεinἐνElijahἨλίᾳwhatτίsaysλέγειtheἡScriptureγραφή,howὡςhe pleadsἐντυγχάνειτῷwith GodθεῷagainstκατὰτοῦIsraelἸσραήλ;

3LordΚύριε,theτοὺςprophetsπροφήταςof Youσουthey have killedἀπέκτειναν,theτὰaltarsθυσιαστήριάof Youσουthey have torn downκατέσκαψαν,and Iκἀγὼhave been leftὑπελείφθηνaloneμόνος,andκαὶthey are seekingζητοῦσινtheτὴνlifeψυχήνof meμου.

4Butἀλλὰwhat [was]τίspokenλέγειto himαὐτῷtheὁdivine answerχρηματισμός;I have leftΚατέλιπονto Myselfἐμαυτῷseven thousandἑπτακισχιλίουςmenἄνδρας,whoοἵτινεςnotοὐκhave bowedἔκαμψαν[the] kneeγόνυτῇto BaalΒάαλ.

5Thusοὕτωςthenοὖνalsoκαὶinἐνtheτῷpresentνῦνtimeκαιρῷa remnantλεῖμμαaccording toκατ’[the] electionἐκλογὴνof graceχάριτοςthere has beenγέγονεν·

6Ifεἰnowδὲby graceχάριτι,no longerοὐκέτιfromἐξworksἔργων,otherwiseἐπεὶἡgraceχάριςno longerοὐκέτιwould beγίνεταιgraceχάρις.

7Whatτίthenοὖν;Whatὃis seekingἐπιζητεῖIsraelἸσραήλ,thisτοῦτοnotοὐκit has obtainedἐπέτυχεν,ἡbutδὲthe electἐκλογὴobtained [it]ἐπέτυχεν·Theοἱnowδὲrestλοιποὶwere hardenedἐπωρώθησαν,

8asκαθὼςit has been writtenγέγραπται·GaveἜδωκενthemαὐτοῖςὁGodθεὸςa spiritπνεῦμαof stuporκατανύξεως,eyesὀφθαλμοὺςτοῦnotμὴto seeβλέπεινandκαὶearsὦτατοῦnotμὴto hearἀκούειν,untoἕωςtheτῆςtodayσήμερονdayἡμέρας.

9AndκαὶDavidΔαυὶδsaysλέγει·Let beΓενηθήτωtheἡtableτράπεζαof themαὐτῶνforεἰςa snareπαγίδαandκαὶforεἰςa trapθήρανandκαὶforεἰςa stumbling blockσκάνδαλονandκαὶforεἰςa retributionἀνταπόδομαto themαὐτοῖς,

10let be darkenedσκοτισθήτωσανtheοἱeyesὀφθαλμοὶof themαὐτῶντοῦnotμὴto seeβλέπειν,andκαὶtheτὸνbacksνῶτονof themαὐτῶνforδιὰeverπαντὸςbent overσύγκαμψον.

11I askΛέγωthenοὖν,notμὴdid they stumbleἔπταισανthatἵναthey might fallπέσωσιν;Neverμὴmay it beγένοιτο·Butἀλλὰin theτῷof themαὐτῶνtrespassπαραπτώματιἡ[is] salvationσωτηρίαto theτοῖςGentilesἔθνεσιν,so asεἰςτὸto provoke to jealousyπαραζηλῶσαιthemαὐτούς.

12Ifεἰhoweverδὲtheτὸtrespassπαράπτωμαof themαὐτῶν[is] richesπλοῦτοςof [the] worldκόσμουandκαὶtheτὸfailureἥττημαof themαὐτῶν[is the] richesπλοῦτοςof [the] Gentilesἐθνῶν,how muchπόσῳmoreμᾶλλονtheτὸfullnessπλήρωμαof themαὐτῶν.

13To youὙμῖνnowδὲI am speakingλέγωtheτοῖςGentilesἔθνεσιν.Uponἐφ’as much asὅσονindeedμὲνthereforeοὖνamεἰμιIἐγὼof [the] Gentilesἐθνῶνapostleἀπόστολος,theτὴνministryδιακονίανof meμουI magnifyδοξάζω,

14ifεἴat allπωςI shall provoke to jealousyπαραζηλώσωof meμουtheτὴνfleshσάρκαandκαὶshall saveσώσωsomeτινὰςofἐξthemαὐτῶν.

15Ifεἰforγὰρtheἡrejectionἀποβολὴof themαὐτῶν[is the] reconciliationκαταλλαγὴof [the] worldκόσμου,what [will be]τίςtheἡacceptanceπρόσλημψιςifεἰnotμὴlifeζωὴout fromἐκ[the] deadνεκρῶν;

16Ifεἰnowδὲtheἡfirstfruitἀπαρχὴ[is] holyἁγία,alsoκαὶtheτὸlumpφύραμα·andκαὶifεἰtheἡrootῥίζα[is] holyἁγία,alsoκαὶtheοἱbranchesκλάδοι.

17IfΕἰhoweverδέsomeτινεςof theτῶνbranchesκλάδωνwere broken offἐξεκλάσθησαν,youσὺnowδὲa wild olive treeἀγριέλαιοςbeingὢνwere grafted inἐνεκεντρίσθηςamongἐνthemαὐτοῖςandκαὶa fellow-partakerσυγκοινωνὸςof theτῆςrootῥίζηςof theτῆςfatnessπιότητοςof theτῆςolive treeἐλαίαςhave becomeἐγένου,

18notμὴboast overκατακαυχῶtheτῶνbranchesκλάδων·Ifεἰnowδὲyou boast against [them]κατακαυχᾶσαι,notοὐyouσὺtheτὴνrootῥίζανsupportβαστάζειςbutἀλλὰtheἡrootῥίζαyouσέ.

19You will sayἐρεῖςthenοὖν·Were broken offἘξεκλάσθησανbranchesκλάδοιthatἵναIἐγὼmight be grafted inἐγκεντρισθῶ.

20Rightly soκαλῶς·by theτῇunbeliefἀπιστίᾳthey were broken offἐξεκλάσθησαν,youσὺhoweverδὲτῇby faithπίστειstandἕστηκας.Notμὴhighὑψηλὰbe mindedφρόνει,butἀλλὰbe afraidφοβοῦ·

21IfεἰforγὰρὁGodθεὸςtheτῶνaccording toκατὰnatureφύσινbranchesκλάδωνnotοὐκsparedἐφείσατο,neitherοὐδὲyouσοῦwill He spareφείσεται.

22Beholdἴδεthereforeοὖν[the] kindnessχρηστότηταandκαὶseverityἀποτομίανof Godθεοῦ·uponἐπὶindeedμὲνthoseτοὺςhaving fallenπεσόνταςseverityἀποτομία,towardἐπὶhoweverδὲyouσὲkindnessχρηστότηςof Godθεοῦ,ifἐὰνyou continue inἐπιμένῃςtheτῇkindnessχρηστότητι,otherwiseἐπεὶalsoκαὶyouσὺwill be cut offἐκκοπήσῃ.

23Even theyκἀκεῖνοιnowδέ,ifἐὰνnotμὴthey continueἐπιμένωσιτῇin unbeliefἀπιστίᾳ,will be grafted inἐγκεντρισθήσονται·ableδυνατὸςforγάρisἐστινὁGodθεὸςagainπάλινto graft inἐγκεντρίσαιthemαὐτούς.

24Ifεἰforγὰρyouσὺout ofἐκtheτῆςaccording toκατὰnatureφύσινwere cut offἐξεκόπηςa wild olive treeἀγριελαίουandκαὶcontrary toπαρὰnatureφύσινwere graftedἐνεκεντρίσθηςintoεἰςa cultivated olive treeκαλλιέλαιον,how muchπόσῳmoreμᾶλλονtheseοὗτοιwhoοἱaccording toκατὰnature [are]φύσινwill be grafted intoἐγκεντρισθήσονταιtheτῇownἰδίᾳolive treeἐλαίᾳ.

25NotΟὐforγὰρI wantθέλωyouὑμᾶςto be ignorantἀγνοεῖν,brothersἀδελφοί,of theτὸmysteryμυστήριονthisτοῦτο,thatἵναnotμὴyou may beἦτεyourselvesἑαυτοῖςwiseφρόνιμοι,thatὅτιa hardeningπώρωσιςinἀπὸpartμέρουςτῷto IsraelἸσραὴλhas happenedγέγονενuntilἄχριthatοὗtheτὸfullnessπλήρωμαof theτῶνGentilesἐθνῶνmay come inεἰσέλθῃ,

26andκαὶsoοὕτωςallπᾶςIsraelἸσραὴλwill be savedσωθήσεται·asκαθὼςit has been writtenγέγραπται·Will comeἭξειout ofἐκZionΣιὼνthe [One]ὁDeliveringῥυόμενος,He will removeἀποστρέψειungodlinessἀσεβείαςfromἀπὸJacobἸακώβ.

27Andκαὶthis [is]αὕτηto themαὐτοῖςtheἡfromπαρ’Meἐμοῦcovenantδιαθήκη,whenὅτανI shall take awayἀφέλωμαιtheτὰςsinsἁμαρτίαςof themαὐτῶν.

28As regardsκατὰindeedμὲνtheτὸgospelεὐαγγέλιον[they are] enemiesἐχθροὶon account ofδι’youὑμᾶς,As regardsκατὰhoweverδὲtheτὴνelectionἐκλογὴνbelovedἀγαπητοὶon account ofδιὰtheτοὺςpatriarchsπατέρας·

29Irrevocableἀμεταμέληταforγὰρ[are] theτὰgiftsχαρίσματαandκαὶtheἡcallingκλῆσιςτοῦof Godθεοῦ.

30Just asὥσπερforγὰρyouὑμεῖςonceποτεwere disobedientἠπειθήσατετῷto Godθεῷ,nowνῦνhoweverδὲhave been shown mercyἠλεήθητεtheτῇof theseτούτωνdisobedienceἀπειθείᾳ,

31soοὕτωςalsoκαὶtheseοὗτοιnowνῦνhave been disobedientἠπείθησανtheτῷfor yourὑμετέρῳmercyἐλέειso thatἵναalsoκαὶtheyαὐτοὶnowνῦνmay have mercy shown [them]ἐλεηθῶσιν·

32Has bound upσυνέκλεισενforγὰρὁGodθεὸςτοὺςallπάνταςinεἰςdisobedienceἀπείθειανthatἵνατοὺςallπάνταςHe may show mercy toἐλεήσῃ.

33OὮ[the] depthβάθοςof richesπλούτουbothκαὶof wisdomσοφίαςandκαὶknowledgeγνώσεωςof Godθεοῦ·Howὡςunsearchableἀνεξεραύνηταtheτὰjudgmentsκρίματαof Himαὐτοῦandκαὶuntraceableἀνεξιχνίαστοιtheαἱwaysὁδοὶof Himαὐτοῦ.

34WhoΤίςforγὰρhas knownἔγνω[the] mindνοῦνof [the] Lordκυρίου;orἢwhoτίςcounselorσύμβουλοςof Himαὐτοῦhas beenἐγένετο;

35Orἢwhoτίςhas first givenπροέδωκενto Himαὐτῷ,andκαὶit will be recompensedἀνταποδοθήσεταιto himαὐτῷ;

36ForὅτιfromἐξHimαὐτοῦandκαὶthroughδι’HimαὐτοῦandκαὶuntoεἰςHimαὐτὸντὰ[are] all thingsπάντα·To Him [be]αὐτῷtheἡgloryδόξαtoεἰςtheτοὺςagesαἰῶνας,Amenἀμήν.
