1 John 5

1EveryoneΠᾶςὁbelievingπιστεύωνthatὅτιJesusἸησοῦςisἐστινtheὁChristχριστὸςofἐκτοῦGodθεοῦhas been bornγεγέννηται,andκαὶeveryoneπᾶςὁlovingἀγαπῶνthe [One]τὸνhaving begotten [Him]γεννήσανταlovesἀγαπᾷalsoκαὶthe [one]τὸνhaving been begottenγεγεννημένονfromἐξHimαὐτοῦ.

2Byἐνthisτούτῳwe knowγινώσκομενthatὅτιwe loveἀγαπῶμενtheτὰchildrenτέκνατοῦof Godθεοῦ,whenὅταντὸνGodθεὸνwe loveἀγαπῶμενandκαὶtheτὰςcommandmentsἐντολὰςof Himαὐτοῦkeepποιῶμεν·

3Thisαὕτηforγάρisἐστινtheἡloveἀγάπητοῦof Godθεοῦthatἵναtheτὰςcommandmentsἐντολὰςof Himαὐτοῦwe should keepτηρῶμεν,andκαὶtheαἱcommandmentsἐντολαὶof Himαὐτοῦburdensomeβαρεῖαιnotοὐκareεἰσίν,

4Forὅτιeveryoneπᾶντὸhaving been bornγεγεννημένονofἐκτοῦGodθεοῦovercomesνικᾷtheτὸνworldκόσμον.andκαὶthisαὕτηisἐστὶνtheἡvictoryνίκηἡhaving overcomeνικήσασαtheτὸνworldκόσμον,theἡfaithπίστιςof usἡμῶν·

5Whoτίςnowδέisἐστινthe [one]ὁovercomingνικῶνtheτὸνworldκόσμονifεἰnotμὴthe [one]ὁbelievingπιστεύωνthatὅτιJesusἸησοῦςisἐστινtheὁSonυἱὸςτοῦof Godθεοῦ;

6ThisΟὗτόςisἐστινthe [One]ὁhaving comeἐλθὼνbyδι’waterὕδατοςandκαὶbloodαἵματος,JesusἸησοῦςChristΧριστός·notοὐκbyἐντῷwaterὕδατιonlyμόνονbutἀλλ’byἐντῷwaterὕδατιandκαὶbyἐντῷbloodαἵματι·AndκαὶtheτὸSpiritπνεῦμάisἐστινthe [One]τὸtestifyingμαρτυροῦν,becauseὅτιtheτὸSpiritπνεῦμάisἐστινtheἡtruthἀλήθεια.

7Forὅτιthreeτρεῖςthere areεἰσινοἱbearing testimonyμαρτυροῦντες,

8theτὸSpiritπνεῦμαandκαὶtheτὸwaterὕδωρandκαὶtheτὸbloodαἷμα,andκαὶtheseοἱthreeτρεῖςinεἰςτὸoneἕνareεἰσιν.

9Ifεἰtheτὴνtestimonyμαρτυρίαντῶνof menἀνθρώπωνwe receiveλαμβάνομεν,theἡtestimonyμαρτυρίατοῦof Godθεοῦgreaterμείζωνisἐστίν,Forὅτιthisαὕτηisἐστὶνtheἡtestimonyμαρτυρίατοῦof GodθεοῦthatὅτιHe has testifiedμεμαρτύρηκενconcerningπερὶtheτοῦSonυἱοῦof Himαὐτοῦ.

10The [one]ὁbelievingπιστεύωνinεἰςtheτὸνSonυἱὸντοῦof Godθεοῦhasἔχειtheτὴνtestimonyμαρτυρίανinἐνhimselfαὑτῷ·The [one]ὁnotμὴbelievingπιστεύωντῷGodθεῷa liarψεύστηνhas madeπεποίηκενHimαὐτόν,becauseὅτιnotοὐhe has believedπεπίστευκενinεἰςtheτὴνtestimonyμαρτυρίανthatἣνhas testifiedμεμαρτύρηκενὁGodθεὸςconcerningπερὶtheτοῦSonυἱοῦHimαὐτοῦ.

11Andκαὶthisαὕτηisἐστὶνtheἡtestimonyμαρτυρία,thatὅτιlifeζωὴνeternalαἰώνιονhas givenἔδωκενὁGodθεὸςto usἡμῖν,andκαὶthisαὕτηtheἡlifeζωὴinἐνtheτῷSonυἱῷHisαὐτοῦisἐστιν.

12The [one]ὁhavingἔχωνtheτὸνSonυἱὸνhasἔχειτὴνlifeζωήν·the [one]ὁnotμὴhavingἔχωνtheτὸνSonυἱὸντοῦof Godθεοῦτὴνlifeζωὴνnotοὐκhasἔχει.

13These thingsΤαῦταhave I writtenἔγραψαto youὑμῖνso thatἵναyou may knowεἰδῆτεthatὅτιlifeζωὴνyou haveἔχετεeternalαἰώνιον,to thoseτοῖςbelievingπιστεύουσινinεἰςtheτὸnameὄνομαof theτοῦSonυἱοῦτοῦof Godθεοῦ.

14Andκαὶthisαὕτηisἐστὶνtheἡconfidenceπαρρησίαthatἣνwe haveἔχομενtowardπρὸςHimαὐτόν,thatὅτιifἐάνanythingτιwe might askαἰτώμεθαaccording toκατὰtheτὸwillθέλημαof HimαὐτοῦHe hearsἀκούειusἡμῶν.

15Andκαὶifἐὰνwe knowοἴδαμενthatὅτιHe hearsἀκούειusἡμῶνwhateverὃifἐὰνwe might askαἰτώμεθα,we knowοἴδαμενthatὅτιwe haveἔχομενtheτὰrequestsαἰτήματαthatἃwe have askedᾐτήκαμενfromἀπ’Himαὐτοῦ.

16Ifἐάνanyoneτιςshould seeἴδῃtheτὸνbrotherἀδελφὸνof himαὐτοῦsinningἁμαρτάνονταa sinἁμαρτίανnotμὴuntoπρὸςdeathθάνατον,he shall askαἰτήσει,andκαὶHe will giveδώσειhimαὐτῷlifeζωήν,to thoseτοῖςsinningἁμαρτάνουσινnotμὴuntoπρὸςdeathθάνατον.There isἔστινa sinἁμαρτίαuntoπρὸςdeathθάνατον·notοὐconcerningπερὶthatἐκείνηςdo I sayλέγωthatἵναhe should imploreἐρωτήσῃ.

17Allπᾶσαunrighteousnessἀδικίαsinἁμαρτίαisἐστίν,andκαὶthere isἔστινsinἁμαρτίαnotοὐuntoπρὸςdeathθάνατον.

18We knowΟἴδαμενthatὅτιeveryoneπᾶςὁhaving been bornγεγεννημένοςofἐκτοῦGodθεοῦnotοὐχcontinues to sinἁμαρτάνει,butἀλλ’the [One]ὁhaving been begottenγεννηθεὶςofἐκτοῦGodθεοῦprotectsτηρεῖhimαὐτόν,andκαὶtheὁevil [one]πονηρὸςnotοὐχdoes touchἅπτεταιhimαὐτοῦ.

19We knowοἴδαμενthatὅτιofἐκτοῦGodθεοῦwe areἐσμεν,andκαὶtheὁworldκόσμοςwholeὅλοςinἐνtheτῷevil [one]πονηρῷliesκεῖται.

20We knowοἴδαμενnowδὲthatὅτιtheὁSonυἱὸςτοῦof Godθεοῦis comeἥκει,andκαὶhas givenδέδωκενusἡμῖνunderstandingδιάνοιανso thatἵναwe may knowγινώσκωμενHim who [is]τὸνtrueἀληθινόν·andκαὶwe areἐσμὲνinἐνHim who [is]τῷtrueἀληθινῷ,inἐνtheτῷSonυἱῷof HimαὐτοῦJesusἸησοῦChristΧριστῷ.HeοὗτόςisἐστινtheὁtrueἀληθινὸςGodθεὸςandκαὶlifeζωὴeternalαἰώνιος.

21Little childrenΤεκνία,keepφυλάξατεyourselvesἑαυτὰfromἀπὸτῶνidolsεἰδώλων.
