2 Corinthians 5

1We knowΟἴδαμενforγὰρthatὅτιifἐὰνἡearthlyἐπίγειοςof usἡμῶνhouseοἰκίαtheτοῦtentσκήνουςshould be destroyedκαταλυθῇ,a buildingοἰκοδομὴνfromἐκGodθεοῦwe haveἔχομενa houseοἰκίανnot made with handsἀχειροποίητονeternalαἰώνιονinἐνtheτοῖςheavensοὐρανοῖς.

2Andκαὶindeedγὰρinἐνthisτούτῳwe groanστενάζομεν,theτὸdwellingοἰκητήριονof usἡμῶνwhich [is]τὸfromἐξheavenοὐρανοῦto be clothed withἐπενδύσασθαιlongingἐπιποθοῦντες,

3Ifεἴindeedγεalsoκαὶhaving been clothedἐνδυσάμενοιnotοὐnakedγυμνοὶwe will be foundεὑρεθησόμεθα.

4Andκαὶforγὰροἱbeingὄντεςinἐνtheτῷtentσκήνειwe groanστενάζομενbeing burdenedβαρούμενοιbecauseἐφ’thatᾧnotοὐwe do wishθέλομενto be unclothedἐκδύσασθαιbutἀλλ’to be clothedἐπενδύσασθαι,thatἵναmay be swallowed upκαταποθῇtheτὸmortalθνητὸνbyὑπὸτῆςlifeζωῆς.

5The [One]ὁnowδὲhaving preparedκατεργασάμενοςusἡμᾶςforεἰςveryαὐτὸthisτοῦτο[is] Godθεός,ὁhaving givenδοὺςto usἡμῖνtheτὸνpledgeἀρραβῶναof theτοῦSpiritπνεύματος.

6being confidentΘαρροῦντεςthereforeοὖνalwaysπάντοτεandκαὶknowingεἰδότεςthatὅτιbeing at homeἐνδημοῦντεςinἐνtheτῷbodyσώματιwe are absentἐκδημοῦμενfromἀπὸtheτοῦLordκυρίου,

7byδιὰfaithπίστεωςforγὰρwe walkπεριπατοῦμεν,notοὐbyδιὰsightεἴδους—

8We are confidentθαρροῦμενnowδὲandκαὶare pleasedεὐδοκοῦμενratherμᾶλλονto be absentἐκδημῆσαιout ofἐκtheτοῦbodyσώματοςandκαὶto be at homeἐνδημῆσαιwithπρὸςtheτὸνLordκύριον·

9Thereforeδιὸalsoκαὶwe are ambitiousφιλοτιμούμεθα,whetherεἴτεbeing at homeἐνδημοῦντεςorεἴτεbeing awayἐκδημοῦντες,well-pleasingεὐάρεστοιto Himαὐτῷto beεἶναι.

10τοὺςForγὰρallπάνταςof usἡμᾶςto be revealedφανερωθῆναιit behoovesδεῖbeforeἔμπροσθενtheτοῦjudgment seatβήματοςτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦ,thatἵναmay receive backκομίσηταιeachἕκαστοςthe things [done]τὰinδιὰtheτοῦbodyσώματοςaccording toπρὸςwhatἃhe didἔπραξεν,whetherεἴτεgoodἀγαθὸνorεἴτεevilφαῦλον.

11KnowingΕἰδότεςthereforeοὖνtheτὸνfearφόβονof theτοῦLordκυρίουmenἀνθρώπουςwe persuadeπείθομεν,to Godθεῷandδὲwe have been made manifestπεφανερώμεθα·I hopeἐλπίζωnowδὲalsoκαὶinἐνtheταῖςconsciencesσυνειδήσεσινof youὑμῶνto have been made manifestπεφανερῶσθαι.

12Notοὐagainπάλινourselvesἑαυτοὺςare we commendingσυνιστάνομενto youὑμῖν,butἀλλὰoccasionἀφορμὴνare givingδιδόντεςto youὑμῖνof boastingκαυχήματοςon behalf ofὑπὲρusἡμῶν,so thatἵναyou may have [an answer]ἔχητεtowardπρὸςthoseτοὺςinἐνappearanceπροσώπῳboastingκαυχωμένουςandκαὶnotμὴinἐν[the] heartκαρδίᾳ.

13Ifεἴτεforγὰρwe are beside ourselvesἐξέστημεν,[it is] to Godθεῷ·or ifεἴτεwe are sober-mindedσωφρονοῦμεν,[it is] for youὑμῖν.

14Theἡforγὰρloveἀγάπητοῦof ChristΧριστοῦcompelsσυνέχειusἡμᾶς,having concludedκρίνανταςthisτοῦτοthatὅτιOneεἷςforὑπὲρallπάντωνhas diedἀπέθανεν·thereforeἄραοἱallπάντεςhave diedἀπέθανον·

15AndκαὶforὑπὲρallπάντωνHe diedἀπέθανενthatἵναthoseοἱlivingζῶντεςno longerμηκέτιto themselvesἑαυτοῖςshould liveζῶσινbutἀλλὰto the [One]τῷforὑπὲρthemαὐτῶνhaving diedἀποθανόντιandκαὶhaving been raised againἐγερθέντι.

16ThereforeὭστεweἡμεῖςfromἀπὸτοῦnowνῦνno oneοὐδέναregardοἴδαμενaccording toκατὰ[the] fleshσάρκα·Thoughεἰevenκαὶwe have regardedἐγνώκαμενaccording toκατὰfleshσάρκαChristΧριστόν,yetἀλλὰnowνῦνno longerοὐκέτιwe regard [Him thus]γινώσκομεν.

17Thereforeὥστεifεἴanyoneτις[is] inἐνChristΧριστῷ,[he is] a newκαινὴcreationκτίσις·Theτὰold thingsἀρχαῖαhave passed awayπαρῆλθεν,beholdἰδοὺhas come into beingγέγονεν[the] newκαινά·

18τὰAndδὲall thingsπάντα[are] ofἐκτοῦGodθεοῦthe [One]τοῦhaving reconciledκαταλλάξαντοςusἡμᾶςto HimselfἑαυτῷthroughδιὰChristΧριστοῦandκαὶhaving givenδόντοςto usἡμῖνtheτὴνministryδιακονίαντῆςof reconciliationκαταλλαγῆς,

19howὡςthatὅτιGodθεὸςwasἦνinἐνChristΧριστῷ[the] worldκόσμονreconcilingκαταλλάσσωνto Himselfἑαυτῷ,notμὴreckoningλογιζόμενοςto themαὐτοῖςtheτὰtrespassesπαραπτώματαof themαὐτῶν,andκαὶhaving putθέμενοςintoἐνusἡμῖνtheτὸνwordλόγοντῆςof reconciliationκαταλλαγῆς.

20ForὑπὲρChristΧριστοῦthereforeοὖνwe are ambassadorsπρεσβεύομενas thoughὡςτοῦGodθεοῦis beseechingπαρακαλοῦντοςthroughδι’usἡμῶν·We imploreδεόμεθαon behalfὑπὲρof ChristΧριστοῦ,Be reconciledκαταλλάγητετῷto Godθεῷ.

21The [One]τὸνnotμὴhaving knownγνόνταsinἁμαρτίανforὑπὲρusἡμῶνsinἁμαρτίανHe madeἐποίησεν,so thatἵναweἡμεῖςmight becomeγενώμεθα[the] righteousnessδικαιοσύνηof GodθεοῦinἐνHimαὐτῷ.
