Ephesians 5
1Beγίνεσθεthereforeοὖνimitatorsμιμηταὶτοῦof Godθεοῦ,asὡςchildrenτέκναbelovedἀγαπητά,
2andκαὶwalkπεριπατεῖτεinἐνloveἀγάπῃ,just asκαθὼςalsoκαὶὁChristΧριστὸςlovedἠγάπησενusἡμᾶςandκαὶgave upπαρέδωκενhimselfἑαυτὸνforὑπὲρusἡμῶν[as] an offeringπροσφορὰνandκαὶa sacrificeθυσίαντῷto Godθεῷintoεἰςan aromaὀσμὴνof a sweet smellεὐωδίας.
3Sexual immoralityΠορνείαhoweverδὲandκαὶimpurityἀκαθαρσίαallπᾶσαorἢcovetousnessπλεονεξίαnot evenμηδὲlet be namedὀνομαζέσθωamongἐνyouὑμῖν,as alsoκαθὼςis properπρέπειto saintsἁγίοις,
4andκαὶfilthinessαἰσχρότηςandκαὶfoolish talkingμωρολογίαorἢcrude jokingεὐτραπελία,whichἃnotοὐκare fittingἀνῆκεν,butἀλλὰratherμᾶλλονthanksgivingεὐχαριστία.
5Thisτοῦτοforγὰρyou knowἴστεrealizingγινώσκοντεςthatὅτιanyπᾶςfornicatorπόρνοςorἢunclean personἀκάθαρτοςorἢcovetous manπλεονέκτης,whoὅisἐστινan idolaterεἰδωλολάτρης,notοὐκhasἔχειinheritanceκληρονομίανinἐνtheτῇkingdomβασιλείᾳτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦandκαὶof Godθεοῦ.
6No oneΜηδεὶςyouὑμᾶςlet deceiveἀπατάτωwith emptyκενοῖςwordsλόγοις,because ofδιὰthese thingsταῦταforγὰρcomesἔρχεταιtheἡwrathὀργὴτοῦof Godθεοῦuponἐπὶtheτοὺςsonsυἱοὺςτῆςof disobedienceἀπειθείας.
7Notμὴthereforeοὖνbeγίνεσθεpartakersσυμμέτοχοιwith themαὐτῶν·
8You wereἦτεforγάρonceποτεdarknessσκότος,nowνῦνhoweverδὲlightφῶςinἐν[the] Lordκυρίῳ·asὡςchildrenτέκναof lightφωτὸςwalkπεριπατεῖτε,
9ὁforγὰρthe fruitκαρπὸςof theτοῦlight [is]φωτὸςinἐνallπάσῃgoodnessἀγαθωσύνῃandκαὶrighteousnessδικαιοσύνῃandκαὶtruthἀληθείᾳ,
10discerningδοκιμάζοντεςwhatτίisἐστινwell-pleasingεὐάρεστονto theτῷLordκυρίῳ·
11Andκαὶnotμὴhave fellowship withσυγκοινωνεῖτεtheτοῖςworksἔργοιςτοῖςunfruitfulἀκάρποιςτοῦof darknessσκότους,ratherμᾶλλονhoweverδὲevenκαὶexpose [them]ἐλέγχετε,
12the thingsτὰforγὰρin secretκρυφῇbeing doneγινόμεναbyὑπ’themαὐτῶνshamefulαἰσχρόνit isἐστινevenκαὶto mentionλέγειν·
13τὰButδὲeverythingπάνταbeing exposedἐλεγχόμεναbyὑπὸtheτοῦlightφωτὸςis made visibleφανεροῦται,
14everythingπᾶνforγὰρτὸbecoming visibleφανερούμενονlightφῶςisἐστιν.Thereforeδιὸit saysλέγει·Awake youἜγειρε,the [one]ὁsleepingκαθεύδων,andκαὶrise upἀνάσταout fromἐκtheτῶνdeadνεκρῶν,andκαὶwill shine uponἐπιφαύσειyouσοιὁChristΧριστός.
15Take heedΒλέπετεthereforeοὖνcarefullyἀκριβῶςhowπῶςyou walkπεριπατεῖτε,notμὴasὡςunwiseἄσοφοιbutἀλλ’asὡςwiseσοφοί,
16redeemingἐξαγοραζόμενοιtheτὸνtimeκαιρόν,becauseὅτιtheαἱdaysἡμέραιevilπονηραίareεἰσιν.
17Because ofδιὰthisτοῦτοnotμὴbeγίνεσθεfoolishἄφρονες,butἀλλὰunderstandσυνίετεwhatτίtheτὸwillθέλημαof theτοῦLord [is]κυρίου·
18Andκαὶnotμὴto be drunkμεθύσκεσθεwith wineοἴνῳ,inἐνwhichᾧisἐστινdebaucheryἀσωτία,Insteadἀλλὰbe filledπληροῦσθεwithἐν[the] Spiritπνεύματι,
19speakingλαλοῦντεςto each otherἑαυτοῖςpsalmsψαλμοῖςandκαὶhymnsὕμνοιςandκαὶsongsᾠδαῖςspiritualπνευματικαῖς,singingᾄδοντεςandκαὶmaking melodyψάλλοντεςin theτῇheartκαρδίᾳof youὑμῶνto theτῷLordκυρίῳ,
20giving thanksεὐχαριστοῦντεςat all timesπάντοτεforὑπὲρall thingsπάντωνinἐν[the] nameὀνόματιtheτοῦLordκυρίουof usἡμῶνJesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦto theτῷGodθεῷandκαὶFatherπατρί,
21Be submitting yourselvesὑποτασσόμενοιto one anotherἀλλήλοιςinἐνreverenceφόβῳof ChristΧριστοῦ.
22Αἱwivesγυναῖκεςto theτοῖςownἰδίοιςhusbandsἀνδράσινasὡςto theτῷLordκυρίῳ,
23forὅτι[the] husbandἀνήρisἐστινheadκεφαλὴof theτῆςwifeγυναικὸςasὡςalsoκαὶὁChristΧριστὸς[is the] headκεφαλὴof theτῆςchurchἐκκλησίας,He HimselfαὐτὸςSaviorσωτὴρof theτοῦbodyσώματος.
24Butἀλλὰeven asὡςtheἡchurchἐκκλησίαis subjectedὑποτάσσεταιτῷto ChristΧριστῷ,soοὕτωςalsoκαὶαἱwivesγυναῖκεςto the ownτοῖςhusbandsἀνδράσινinἐνeverythingπαντί.
25ΟἱHusbandsἄνδρες,loveἀγαπᾶτεtheτὰςwivesγυναῖκας,just asκαθὼςalsoκαὶὁChristΧριστὸςlovedἠγάπησενtheτὴνchurchἐκκλησίανandκαὶHimselfἑαυτὸνgave upπαρέδωκενforὑπὲρherαὐτῆς,
26so thatἵναherαὐτὴνHe might sanctifyἁγιάσῃhaving cleansed [her]καθαρίσαςby theτῷwashingλουτρῷτοῦof waterὕδατοςbyἐν[the] wordῥήματι,
27so thatἵναmight presentπαραστήσῃHeαὐτὸςto Himselfἑαυτῷin gloryἔνδοξονtheτὴνchurchἐκκλησίαν,notμὴhavingἔχουσανspotσπίλονorἢwrinkleῥυτίδαorἤanyτιof theτῶνsuch thingsτοιούτων,butἀλλ’thatἵναit would beᾖholyἁγίαandκαὶblamelessἄμωμος.
28Soοὕτωςoughtὀφείλουσινalsoκαὶοἱhusbandsἄνδρεςto loveἀγαπᾶνtheτὰςof themselvesἑαυτῶνwivesγυναῖκαςasὡςtheτὰof themselvesἑαυτῶνbodiesσώματα·The [one]ὁlovingἀγαπῶνtheτὴνof himselfἑαυτοῦwifeγυναῖκαhimselfἑαυτὸνlovesἀγαπᾷ,
29No oneοὐδεὶςforγάρat any timeποτεtheτὴνof himselfἑαυτοῦfleshσάρκαhatedἐμίσησεν,butἀλλὰhe nourishesἐκτρέφειandκαὶcherishesθάλπειitαὐτήν,just asκαθὼςalso [does]καὶὁChristΧριστὸςtheτὴνchurchἐκκλησίαν,
30forὅτιmembersμέληwe areἐσμὲνof theτοῦbodyσώματοςof Himαὐτοῦ.
31Because ofἀντὶthisτούτουwill leaveκαταλείψειa manἄνθρωποςhisτὸνfatherπατέραandκαὶτὴνmotherμητέραandκαὶbe joinedπροσκολληθήσεταιto theτῇwifeγυναικὶof himαὐτοῦ,andκαὶwill beἔσονταιtheοἱtwoδύοintoεἰςfleshσάρκαoneμίαν.
32Theτὸmysteryμυστήριονthisτοῦτοgreatμέγαisἐστίν,Iἐγὼhoweverδὲspeakλέγωas toεἰςChristΧριστὸνandκαὶas toεἰςtheτὴνchurchἐκκλησίαν.
33Howeverπλὴνalsoκαὶyouὑμεῖςοἱaccording toκαθ’individualἕναeachἕκαστοςtheτὴνof himselfἑαυτοῦwifeγυναῖκαsoοὕτωςlet loveἀγαπάτωasὡςhimselfἑαυτόν,ἡandδὲthe wifeγυνὴthatἵναshe may respectφοβῆταιtheτὸνhusbandἄνδρα.
