Acts 24
1AfterΜετὰthenδὲfiveπέντεdaysἡμέραςcame downκατέβηtheὁhigh priestἀρχιερεὺςAnaniasἉνανίαςwithμετὰeldersπρεσβυτέρωνsomeτινῶνandκαὶan oratorῥήτοροςTertullusΤερτύλλουcertainτινός,whoοἵτινεςmade a representationἐνεφάνισανto theτῷgovernorἡγεμόνιagainstκατὰτοῦPaulΠαύλου.
2Having been calledκληθέντοςthenδὲof himαὐτοῦbeganἤρξατοto accuseκατηγορεῖνὁTertullusΤέρτυλλοςsayingλέγων·GreatΠολλῆςpeaceεἰρήνηςwe are attainingτυγχάνοντεςthroughδιὰyouσοῦandκαὶexcellent measuresδιορθωμάτωνare being doneγινομένωνto theτῷnationἔθνειthisτούτῳthroughδιὰτῆςyourσῆςforesightπρονοίας
3in every wayπάντῃbothτεandκαὶeverywhereπανταχοῦwe gladly accept [it]ἀποδεχόμεθα,most excellentκράτιστεFelixΦῆλιξ,withμετὰallπάσηςthankfulnessεὐχαριστίας.
4In order thatἵναhoweverδὲnotμὴtoἐπὶany longerπλεῖόνyouσεI should be a hindranceἐγκόπτω,I imploreπαρακαλῶto hearἀκοῦσαίyouσεusἡμῶνbrieflyσυντόμως[in]τῇyourσῇkindnessἐπιεικείᾳ.
5Having foundεὑρόντεςforγὰρtheτὸνmanἄνδραthisτοῦτονa pestλοιμὸνandκαὶstirringκινοῦνταinsurrectionστάσειςamong allπᾶσιtheτοῖςJewsἸουδαίοιςτοῖςinκατὰtheτὴνworldοἰκουμένηνa leaderπρωτοστάτηνthenτεof theτῆςof theτῶνNazarenesΝαζωραίωνsectαἱρέσεως,
6whoὃςevenκαὶtheτὸtempleἱερὸνattemptedἐπείρασενto profaneβεβηλῶσαι,whomὃνalsoκαὶwe seizedἐκρατήσαμεν,
8Fromπαρ’himοὗyou will be ableδυνήσῃyourselfαὐτὸςhaving examined [him]ἀνακρίναςconcerningπερὶallπάντωνthese thingsτούτωνto knowἐπιγνῶναιof whichὧνweἡμεῖςaccuseκατηγοροῦμενhimαὐτοῦ.
9AgreedσυνεπέθεντοthenδὲalsoκαὶtheοἱJewsἸουδαῖοιdeclaringφάσκοντεςthese thingsταῦταsoοὕτωςto beἔχειν.
10AnsweredἈπεκρίθηthenτεὁPaulΠαῦλοςhaving made a signνεύσαντοςto himαὐτῷtheτοῦgovernorἡγεμόνοςto speakλέγειν·ForἘκmanyπολλῶνyearsἐτῶνas beingὄνταyouσεjudgeκριτὴνtoτῷnationἔθνειthisτούτῳknowingἐπιστάμενοςcheerfullyεὐθύμωςto the thingsτὰconcerningπερὶmyselfἐμαυτοῦI make a defenseἀπολογοῦμαι,
11Being ableδυναμένουyouσουto knowἐπιγνῶναι,thatὅτιnotοὐmore thanπλείουςthere areεἰσίνto meμοιdaysἡμέραιtwelveδώδεκαfromἀφ’whichἧςI went upἀνέβηνto worshipπροσκυνήσωνinεἰςJerusalemἸερουσαλήμ,
12Andκαὶneitherοὔτεinἐνtheτῷtempleἱερῷdid they findεὗρόνmeμεwithπρόςanyoneτιναreasoningδιαλεγόμενονorἢa tumultuous gatheringἐπίστασινmakingποιοῦνταof a crowdὄχλουnorοὔτεinἐνtheταῖςsynagoguesσυναγωγαῖςnorοὔτεinκατὰtheτὴνcityπόλιν,
13Norοὐδὲto proveπαραστῆσαιare they ableδύνανταίto youσοιconcerningπερὶ[the things] of whichὧνnowνυνὶthey accuseκατηγοροῦσίνmeμου.
14I confessὁμολογῶhoweverδὲthisτοῦτόto youσοιthatὅτιaccording toκατὰtheτὴνWayὁδὸνwhichἣνthey callλέγουσινa sectαἵρεσινsoοὕτωςI serveλατρεύωtheτῷof our fathersπατρῴῳGodθεῷ,believingπιστεύωνall thingsπᾶσιτοῖςthroughoutκατὰtheτὸνlawνόμονandκαὶthatτοῖςinἐνtheτοῖςProphetsπροφήταιςhave been writtenγεγραμμένοις,
15a hopeἐλπίδαhavingἔχωνinεἰςτὸνGodθεόν,whichἣνalsoκαὶtheyαὐτοὶthemselvesοὗτοιawaitπροσδέχονται,[that] a resurrectionἀνάστασινthere is aboutμέλλεινto beἔσεσθαιof [the] justδικαίωνbothτεandκαὶof [the] unjustἀδίκων·
16InἐνthisτούτῳalsoκαὶI myselfαὐτὸςstriveἀσκῶwithout offenseἀπρόσκοπονa conscienceσυνείδησινto haveἔχεινtowardπρὸςτὸνGodθεὸνandκαὶτοὺςmenἀνθρώπουςthroughδιὰeverythingπαντός.
17Afterδι’yearsἐτῶνnowδὲmanyπλειόνωνalmsἐλεημοσύναςto bringποιήσωνtoεἰςtheτὸnationἔθνοςof meμουI arrivedπαρεγενόμηνandκαὶofferingsπροσφοράς,
18duringἐνwhichαἷςthey foundεὗρόνmeμεpurifiedἡγνισμένονinἐνtheτῷtempleἱερῷ,notοὐwithμετὰa crowdὄχλουnorοὐδὲinμετὰtumultθορύβου,
19Someτινὲςhowever [are]δὲfromἀπὸτῆςAsiaἈσίαςJewsἸουδαῖοι,whoοὓςoughtἔδειbeforeἐπὶyouσοῦto appearπαρεῖναιandκαὶto make accusationκατηγορεῖνifεἴanythingτιthey may haveἔχοιενagainstπρὸςmeἐμέ,
20Otherwiseἢthemselvesαὐτοὶitοὗτοιlet them sayεἰπάτωσανanyτίthey foundεὗρονunrighteousnessἀδίκημαhaving stoodστάντοςin meμουbeforeἐπὶtheτοῦCouncilσυνεδρίου
21[other] thanἢconcerningπερὶoneμιᾶςthisταύτηςvoiceφωνῆςwhichἧςI cried outἐκέκραξαamongἐνthemαὐτοῖςstandingἑστὼςὅτιConcerningΠερὶ[the] resurrectionἀναστάσεωςof [the] deadνεκρῶνIἐγὼam judgedκρίνομαιthis dayσήμερονbyἐφ’youὑμῶν.
22Put offἈνεβάλετοhoweverδὲthemαὐτοὺςὁFelixΦῆλιξ,more preciselyἀκριβέστερονhaving knowledge ofεἰδὼςthe thingsτὰconcerningπερὶtheτῆςWayὁδοῦ,having saidεἴπας·WhenὍτανLysiasΛυσίαςtheὁcommanderχιλίαρχοςmight have come downκαταβῇI will examineδιαγνώσομαιthe thingsτὰas toκαθ’youὑμᾶς·
23having commandedδιαταξάμενοςtheτῷcenturionἑκατοντάρχῃto keepτηρεῖσθαιhimαὐτὸνto [let him] haveἔχεινthenτεeaseἄνεσινandκαὶnotμηδέναto forbidκωλύεινtheτῶνownἰδίωνof himαὐτοῦto ministerὑπηρετεῖνto himαὐτῷ.
24AfterΜετὰthenδὲdaysἡμέραςsomeτινὰςhaving arrivedπαραγενόμενοςὁFelixΦῆλιξwithσὺνDrusillaΔρουσίλλῃtheτῇownἰδίᾳwifeγυναικὶbeingοὔσῃa JewessἸουδαίᾳhe sent forμετεπέμψατοτὸνPaulΠαῦλονandκαὶheardἤκουσενhimαὐτοῦconcerningπερὶtheτῆςinεἰςChristΧριστὸνJesusἸησοῦνfaithπίστεως.
25Reasoningδιαλεγομένουthenδὲheαὐτοῦconcerningπερὶrighteousnessδικαιοσύνηςandκαὶself-controlἐγκρατείαςandκαὶtheτοῦjudgmentκρίματοςτοῦcomingμέλλοντοςfrightenedἔμφοβοςhaving becomeγενόμενοςὁFelixΦῆλιξansweredἀπεκρίθη·For theΤὸpresentνῦνbeingἔχονgo awayπορεύου,opportunityκαιρὸνthenδὲhaving foundμεταλαβὼνI will call forμετακαλέσομαίyouσε·
26At the same timeἅμαalsoκαὶhe is hopingἐλπίζωνthatὅτιrichesχρήματαwill be givenδοθήσεταιhimαὐτῷbyὑπὸτοῦPaulΠαύλου·Thereforeδιὸalsoκαὶoftenπυκνότερονhimαὐτὸνsending forμεταπεμπόμενοςhe was talkingὡμίλειwith himαὐτῷ.
27Two yearsΔιετίαςhoweverδὲhaving been completedπληρωθείσηςreceived [as]ἔλαβενsuccessorδιάδοχονὁFelixΦῆλιξPorciusΠόρκιονFestusΦῆστον·wishingθέλωνthenτεfavorχάριταto acquire for himselfκαταθέσθαιwith theτοῖςJewsἸουδαίοιςὁFelixΦῆλιξleftκατέλιπετὸνPaulΠαῦλονimprisonedδεδεμένον.
