1ThenΤότεὁJesusἸησοῦςspokeἐλάλησενto theτοῖςcrowdsὄχλοιςandκαὶtoτοῖςdisciplesμαθηταῖςof Himαὐτοῦ
2sayingλέγων·OnἘπὶτῆςMoses’Μωϋσέωςseatκαθέδραςhave sat downἐκάθισανtheοἱscribesγραμματεῖςandκαὶtheοἱPhariseesΦαρισαῖοι.
3All thingsπάνταthereforeοὖνhow manyὅσαifἐὰνthey might tellεἴπωσινyouὑμῖνkeepποιήσατεandκαὶobserveτηρεῖτε,Afterκατὰhoweverδὲtheτὰworksἔργαof themαὐτῶνnotμὴdoποιεῖτε,They speakλέγουσινforγὰρandκαὶnotοὐactποιοῦσιν.
4They tie upδεσμεύουσινδὲburdensφορτίαheavyβαρέαandκαὶlay [them]ἐπιτιθέασινonἐπὶtheτοὺςshouldersὤμουςτῶνof menἀνθρώπων,themselvesαὐτοὶhoweverδὲwithτῷfingerδακτύλῳof themαὐτῶνnotοὐare they willingθέλουσινto moveκινῆσαιthemαὐτά.
5Allπάνταnowδὲtheτὰdeedsἔργαof themαὐτῶνthey doποιοῦσινin orderπρὸςτὸto be seenθεαθῆναιτοῖςby menἀνθρώποις·They broadenπλατύνουσιforγὰρtheτὰphylacteriesφυλακτήριαof themαὐτῶνandκαὶenlargeμεγαλύνουσιtheirτὰtasselsκράσπεδα,
6They loveφιλοῦσιnowδὲtheτὴνchief placeπρωτοκλισίανatἐνtheτοῖςbanquetsδείπνοιςandκαὶtheτὰςfirst seatsπρωτοκαθεδρίαςinἐνtheταῖςsynagoguesσυναγωγαῖς
7andκαὶtheτοὺςgreetingsἀσπασμοὺςinἐνtheταῖςmarketplacesἀγοραῖςandκαὶto be calledκαλεῖσθαιbyὑπὸτῶνmenἀνθρώπων·RabbiῬαββί.
8Youὑμεῖςhoweverδὲnotμὴshall be calledκληθῆτε·RabbiῬαββί,Oneεἷςforγάρisἐστινof youὑμῶνtheὁTeacherδιδάσκαλος,allπάντεςnowδὲyouὑμεῖςbrothersἀδελφοίareἐστε·
9Andκαὶfatherπατέραno [one]μὴcallκαλέσητεof youὑμῶνonἐπὶtheτῆςearthγῆς,Oneεἷςforγάρisἐστινof youὑμῶνtheὁFatherπατὴρwho [is]ὁin heavenοὐράνιος·
10Neitherμηδὲbe calledκληθῆτεinstructorsκαθηγηταί,sinceὅτι[the] instructorκαθηγητὴςof youὑμῶνisἐστινOneεἷςtheὁChristχριστός·
11ὁAndδὲthe greatestμείζωνamong youὑμῶνwill beἔσταιyourὑμῶνservantδιάκονος.
12He whoὅστιςthenδὲshall exaltὑψώσειhimselfἑαυτὸνwill be humbledταπεινωθήσεται,andκαὶwhoeverὅστιςshall humbleταπεινώσειhimselfἑαυτὸνwill be exaltedὑψωθήσεται.
13WoeΟὐαὶhoweverδὲto youὑμῖν,scribesγραμματεῖςandκαὶPhariseesΦαρισαῖοιhypocritesὑποκριταί,Forὅτιyou shut upκλείετεtheτὴνkingdomβασιλείανof theτῶνheavensοὐρανῶνbeforeἔμπροσθεντῶνmenἀνθρώπων·Youὑμεῖςforγὰρneitherοὐκenterεἰσέρχεσθε,nor evenοὐδὲthose whoτοὺςare enteringεἰσερχομένουςdo you allowἀφίετεto go inεἰσελθεῖν.
15WoeΟὐαὶto youὑμῖν,scribesγραμματεῖςandκαὶPhariseesΦαρισαῖοιhypocritesὑποκριταί,Forὅτιyou traverseπεριάγετεtheτὴνseaθάλασσανandκαὶtheτὴνdry [land]ξηρὰνto makeποιῆσαιoneἕναconvertπροσήλυτον,andκαὶwhenὅτανhe has become [so]γένηταιyou makeποιεῖτεhimαὐτὸνa sonυἱὸνof hellγεέννηςtwofold moreδιπλότερονthan yourselvesὑμῶν.
16WoeΟὐαὶto youὑμῖν,guidesὁδηγοὶblindτυφλοὶthoseοἱsayingλέγοντες·WhoeverὋςἂνshall swearὀμόσῃbyἐνtheτῷtempleναῷ,nothingοὐδένit isἐστιν,whoeverὃςhoweverδ’ἂνshall swearὀμόσῃbyἐνtheτῷgoldχρυσῷof theτοῦtempleναοῦis bound by his oathὀφείλει.
17Foolishμωροὶandκαὶblindτυφλοί,Whichτίςforγὰρgreaterμείζωνisἐστίν,theὁgoldχρυσὸςorἢtheὁtempleναὸςὁhaving sanctifiedἁγιάσαςtheτὸνgoldχρυσόν;
18And [you say]καί·WhoeverὋςἂνshall swearὀμόσῃbyἐνtheτῷaltarθυσιαστηρίῳ,nothingοὐδένit isἐστιν,whoeverὃςhoweverδ’ἂνshall swearὀμόσῃbyἐνtheτῷgiftδώρῳthat [is]τῷuponἐπάνωitαὐτοῦhe is bound by his oathὀφείλει.
19You blind menτυφλοί,Whichτίforγὰρ[is] greaterμεῖζον,theτὸgiftδῶρονorἢtheτὸaltarθυσιαστήριοντὸsanctifyingἁγιάζονtheτὸgiftδῶρον;
20The [one]ὁthereforeοὖνhaving swornὀμόσαςbyἐνtheτῷaltarθυσιαστηρίῳswearsὀμνύειbyἐνitαὐτῷandκαὶbyἐνall thingsπᾶσιthat [are]τοῖςuponἐπάνωitαὐτοῦ·
21Andκαὶthe [one]ὁhaving swornὀμόσαςbyἐνtheτῷtempleναῷswearsὀμνύειbyἐνitαὐτῷandκαὶbyἐνthe [One]τῷdwellingκατοικοῦντιin itαὐτόν·
22Andκαὶthe [one]ὁhaving swornὀμόσαςbyἐντῷheavenοὐρανῷswearsὀμνύειbyἐνtheτῷthroneθρόνῳτοῦof Godθεοῦandκαὶbyἐνthe [One]τῷsittingκαθημένῳuponἐπάνωitαὐτοῦ.
23WoeΟὐαὶto youὑμῖν,scribesγραμματεῖςandκαὶPhariseesΦαρισαῖοιhypocritesὑποκριταί,Forὅτιyou pay tithes ofἀποδεκατοῦτετὸmintἡδύοσμονandκαὶτὸdillἄνηθονandκαὶτὸcumminκύμινον,andκαὶyou have neglectedἀφήκατεtheτὰweightier [matters]βαρύτεραof theτοῦlawνόμου,τὴνjusticeκρίσινandκαὶτὸmercyἔλεοςandκαὶτὴνfaithfulnessπίστιν·Theseταῦταit behooved youἔδειto doποιῆσαιthoseκἀκεῖναnotμὴneglectingἀφιέναι.
24Guidesὁδηγοὶblindτυφλοί,Thoseοἱstraining outδιϋλίζοντεςtheτὸνgnatκώνωπαtheτὴνhoweverδὲcamelκάμηλονswallowingκαταπίνοντες.
25WoeΟὐαὶto youὑμῖν,scribesγραμματεῖςandκαὶPhariseesΦαρισαῖοιhypocritesὑποκριταί,Forὅτιyou cleanseκαθαρίζετεtheτὸoutsideἔξωθενof theτοῦcupποτηρίουandκαὶof theτῆςdishπαροψίδος,insideἔσωθενhoweverδὲthey are fullγέμουσινofἐξgreedἁρπαγῆςandκαὶself-indulgenceἀκρασίας.
26PhariseeΦαρισαῖεblindτυφλέ,Cleanseκαθάρισονfirstπρῶτονtheτὸinsideἐντὸςof theτοῦcupποτηρίουandκαὶtheτῆςdishπαροψίδος,thatἵναmight becomeγένηταιalsoκαὶtheτὸoutsideἐκτὸςof themαὐτοῦcleanκαθαρόν.
27WoeΟὐαὶto youὑμῖν,scribesγραμματεῖςandκαὶPhariseesΦαρισαῖοιhypocritesὑποκριταί,Forὅτιyou are likeπαρομοιάζετεtombsτάφοιςhaving been whitewashedκεκονιαμένοις,whichοἵτινεςoutwardlyἔξωθενindeedμὲνappearφαίνονταιbeautifulὡραῖοιInsideἔσωθενhoweverδὲthey are fullγέμουσινof bonesὀστέωνof [the] deadνεκρῶνandκαὶof allπάσηςimpurityἀκαθαρσίας·
28Thusοὕτωςalsoκαὶyouὑμεῖςoutwardlyἔξωθενindeedμὲνappearφαίνεσθετοῖςto menἀνθρώποιςrighteousδίκαιοι,inwardlyἔσωθενhoweverδέyou areἐστεfullμεστοὶof hypocrisyὑποκρίσεωςandκαὶlawlessnessἀνομίας.
29WoeΟὐαὶto youὑμῖν,scribesγραμματεῖςandκαὶPhariseesΦαρισαῖοιhypocritesὑποκριταί,Forὅτιyou buildοἰκοδομεῖτεtheτοὺςtombsτάφουςof theτῶνprophetsπροφητῶνandκαὶadornκοσμεῖτεtheτὰmonumentsμνημεῖαof theτῶνrighteousδικαίων,
30andκαὶyou sayλέγετε·IfΕἰwe had livedἤμεθαinἐνtheταῖςdaysἡμέραιςof theτῶνfathersπατέρωνof usἡμῶν,notοὐκἂνwe would have beenἤμεθαwith themαὐτῶνpartakersκοινωνοὶinἐνtheτῷbloodαἵματιof theτῶνprophetsπροφητῶν·
31Thusὥστεyou bear witnessμαρτυρεῖτεto yourselvesἑαυτοῖςthatὅτιsonsυἱοίyou areἐστεof thoseτῶνhaving murderedφονευσάντωνtheτοὺςprophetsπροφήτας.
32Andκαὶyouὑμεῖςfill upπληρώσατεtheτὸmeasureμέτρονof theτῶνfathersπατέρωνof youὑμῶν.
33SerpentsὄφειςOffspringγεννήματαof vipersἐχιδνῶν,Howπῶςshall you escapeφύγητεfromἀπὸtheτῆςsentenceκρίσεωςτῆςof hellγεέννης;
34Because ofδιὰthisτοῦτοbeholdἰδοὺIἐγὼsendἀποστέλλωtoπρὸςyouὑμᾶςprophetsπροφήταςandκαὶwise [men]σοφοὺςandκαὶscribesγραμματεῖς·Some ofἐξthemαὐτῶνyou will killἀποκτενεῖτεandκαὶwill crucifyσταυρώσετε,and [some]καὶofἐξthemαὐτῶνyou will flogμαστιγώσετεinἐνtheταῖςsynagoguesσυναγωγαῖςof youὑμῶνandκαὶwill persecuteδιώξετεfromἀπὸtownπόλεωςtoεἰςtownπόλιν·
35so thatὅπωςshall comeἔλθῃuponἐφ’youὑμᾶςall [the]πᾶνbloodαἷμαrighteousδίκαιονbeing poured outἐκχυννόμενονuponἐπὶtheτῆςearthγῆςfromἀπὸtheτοῦbloodαἵματοςof AbelἍβελtheτοῦrighteousδικαίουtoἕωςtheτοῦbloodαἵματοςof ZechariahΖαχαρίουsonυἱοῦof BerekiahΒαραχίου,whomὃνyou murderedἐφονεύσατεbetweenμεταξὺtheτοῦtempleναοῦandκαὶtheτοῦaltarθυσιαστηρίου.
36TrulyἀμὴνI sayλέγωto youὑμῖν,will comeἥξειthese thingsταῦταallπάνταuponἐπὶtheτὴνgenerationγενεὰνthisταύτην.
37JerusalemἸερουσαλὴμJerusalemἸερουσαλήμ,ἡkillingἀποκτείνουσαtheτοὺςprophetsπροφήταςandκαὶstoningλιθοβολοῦσαthoseτοὺςhaving been sentἀπεσταλμένουςtoπρὸςherαὐτήν—How oftenποσάκιςwould Iἠθέλησαhave gathered togetherἐπισυναγαγεῖνtheτὰchildrenτέκναof youσου,in whichὃνwayτρόπονa henὄρνιςgathers togetherἐπισυνάγειtheτὰchicksνοσσίαof herαὐτῆςunderὑπὸtheτὰςwingsπτέρυγας,andκαὶnotοὐκyou were willingἠθελήσατε;
38Beholdἰδοὺis leftἀφίεταιto youὑμῖνtheὁhouseοἶκοςof youὑμῶνdesolateἔρημος.
39I sayλέγωforγὰρto youὑμῖν,noοὐnotμήMeμεshall you seeἴδητεfromἀπ’nowἄρτιuntilἕωςἂνyou sayεἴπητε·Blessed [is]Εὐλογημένοςthe [One]ὁcomingἐρχόμενοςin [the]ἐνnameὀνόματιof [the] Lordκυρίου.
